Hello,
I thought I'd make this thread for the new application group... even though it's a bit late since we have to all apply soon!
Anyway! I want to apply for the Fall 2012 term but I had some questions. I am an current CSULA student that transferred to CSULA in Fall 2010. I'm a Psychology major but am applying for Fall 2012 Nursing. I haven't taken my TEAS yet, but I'll be taking that on Friday (!!), so I'm very nervous about that.
That said, this is my first question:
I've been getting mixed info from different people. When I visited the Academic Advising Office last Spring (2011), the adviser told me that as long as I did not graduate from CSULA BEFORE I graduated, I could apply to the SON as a BSN applicant. I called SON to see if I could even apply for the ELM program and they told me that as far as they knew, I could not because I did not have my Bachelor's Degree yet.
So right now, I have approximately 2 quarters left in order to finish my Psychology major, approximately 6~8 classes. Ideally, I could finish by Spring 2012, but depending on my other workloads, I could push it back to Fall 2012. The problem is that I'm not allowed to graduate if I want to go into the basic program so I can't apply for graduation just yet. But IF I don't get into the BSN program, then I have to wait another two quarters after May or June or whenever they send out acceptances in order to officially graduate.
So I went to go and talk to my adviser about graduation and if I should even bother applying for Spring 2012 graduation and she tells me that no, I'm not allowed to apply for a BSN but I can go for the ELM program.
Does anyone know which is true? The CSULA advisers tell me that I can't apply for the Basic program but I can apply for ELM while the SON says that I can't apply for ELM because I don't have my Bachelor's degree yet and I should apply for the BSN program. Other graduate schools like APU and UCLA have also told me the same thing - without a Bachelor's, I cannot get apply for the ELM program at their school.
Thank you~
Hello and welcomeI heard that some rejection letters were already sent out around 2 weeks ago but that isn't to say that all of them were. I am also a CSULA hopeful as i'm frantically checking my email every second for the ultimate news. They will be sending out all acceptance letters via snail mail NOT email. So check your MAIL frantically! LOL!Oh and I guess that is a good thing then? I have had friends who have gotten rejection letters a few weeks after they sent their apps in all the way to a few weeks ago. I am thinking that those letters went out to people that either had technical errors (like didn't sumbit transcripts/TEAS scores etc..) or were really low scoring, as in probably 15 points or lower. That is half of the total
On another note, I didn't even get into the school for CSULB because my GPA was too low. I have done extremely well towards the latter portion of my Pre-Nursing career and it sucked that CSULB didn't care to see how well I improved. =\
I was in the same boat as you versus CSULB. They denied me admissions too but I got interviewed there. I found out yesterday that it was all a waste because they couldn't fix my admissions problem. So dumb. I, like you, had done, well not poorly but like C/B average when I started college and all my As have been since I switched to nursing. Be careful. IF you got a C in one of the pre-reqs but did another class to replace it and got a A, watch out they will take the C over the A. I think this rule is very unfair and its sneaky the way they don't say anything on the brochure. That put me from most likely 'in' to 'rejection (or just waiting for my 'letter')
What sucks is that you get more points last year for volunteering than you can this year - lame! hehe. Are you sure? I was always either 1 or 2 points depending on how many hours you have.
Wow, I called SoN so many times I feel as though they recognize my voice and are annoyed by me - so now I'm trying to change the pitch/tone of my voice everytime I call, hah! (I don't want to jeopardize my chances of getting in! I only called once and talked to some chick that isn' t the person that normally handles the undergrads. She assured me that the files were completed yesterday and that all they were doing yesterday was preparing letters and/or sending them out. I mean if they only accept like 40-50 then it shouldn't take long to set up letters.
I was looking at some ranking website for CSULA Nursing...it was rated pretty low (in a bad way!). I wonder why that is - is CSU Nursing not that great anymore? (yet still competitive). It was ranked lower than CSUSB and some other nobody-named universities. -sadface-Are you talking about the Board of Nursing
Also, I still haven't paid my $100 enrollment fee. It's due May 1 but i'm trying to see if i can out-wait paying until decisions come out. This is some risky business!I am waiting to pay it on Friday
Hehe still waiting. I live in Los Angeles County as well, and get my mail at 945am on the dot! Nothing today unfortunately but that might not be the case for some of you guys. I have a feeling for tomorrow!!! They might be sending letters alphabetically? Everyone!! post something if anything develops. :)
Yes my mail comes around 11 or 12 everyday. I doubt they sent them yesterday. If they didn't send them in bulk (which I bet they did) then it will take an additional few days to arrive.
The lady also said that if you don't receive anything by Friday to call and ask for your status. They will tell you especially if your a transfer due to the deposit issue.
That is my plan anyway, even though I already know the answer....
I feel ill. I have a stupid paper due on Thursday and I can't concentrate. I have this irrational fear that they calculated my points wrong, but since they won't tell you your point value, how can you know for sure?
Spiffy- So, did you get in to CSULB? No holding out on us!
Has anyone else already been accepted anywhere else?
