Hello,
I thought I'd make this thread for the new application group... even though it's a bit late since we have to all apply soon!
Anyway! I want to apply for the Fall 2012 term but I had some questions. I am an current CSULA student that transferred to CSULA in Fall 2010. I'm a Psychology major but am applying for Fall 2012 Nursing. I haven't taken my TEAS yet, but I'll be taking that on Friday (!!), so I'm very nervous about that.
That said, this is my first question:
I've been getting mixed info from different people. When I visited the Academic Advising Office last Spring (2011), the adviser told me that as long as I did not graduate from CSULA BEFORE I graduated, I could apply to the SON as a BSN applicant. I called SON to see if I could even apply for the ELM program and they told me that as far as they knew, I could not because I did not have my Bachelor's Degree yet.
So right now, I have approximately 2 quarters left in order to finish my Psychology major, approximately 6~8 classes. Ideally, I could finish by Spring 2012, but depending on my other workloads, I could push it back to Fall 2012. The problem is that I'm not allowed to graduate if I want to go into the basic program so I can't apply for graduation just yet. But IF I don't get into the BSN program, then I have to wait another two quarters after May or June or whenever they send out acceptances in order to officially graduate.
So I went to go and talk to my adviser about graduation and if I should even bother applying for Spring 2012 graduation and she tells me that no, I'm not allowed to apply for a BSN but I can go for the ELM program.
Does anyone know which is true? The CSULA advisers tell me that I can't apply for the Basic program but I can apply for ELM while the SON says that I can't apply for ELM because I don't have my Bachelor's degree yet and I should apply for the BSN program. Other graduate schools like APU and UCLA have also told me the same thing - without a Bachelor's, I cannot get apply for the ELM program at their school.
Thank you~
, yep i just got screwed in the butt because of it. I had a C+ at first for Chem and retook it and had the highest grade in the class 5 years later.IF you got a C in one of the pre-reqs but did another class to replace it and got a A, watch out they will take the C over the A. I think this rule is very unfair and its sneaky the way they don't say anything on the brochure. That put me from most likely 'in' to 'rejection (or just waiting for my 'letter')
Turned out 1) They had no expiration date on science classes so my C+ grade counted.
2) It knocked me out from getting a 4.0 gpa down to 3.6
3) It took a toll on my overall gpa....ouch.
So i'm done for. The cool thing is that last year, the cut-off was a score of 19. This year however, I am 100% sure it's a lot more competitive so the cut-off score can EASILY fluctuate higher...which obviously isn't good for us.
Would a score of 22 be competitive enough this year? =X I realllllyyyyy hope so! So ridiculous, I would've had at least 24 if they just counted my repeated course! GR!!
Also would they still be calling us for acceptances like they did in previous years? Because if they do call tomorrow, i'd be taking my chem test lol.
Hey guys!!!
I am kinda freaking out....
So I just checked CSULA GET on https://cmsweb.calstatela.edu/psp/HLAPRD/?cmd=login
and after I logged in I saw my status and it now reads incomplete where it used to say, Admitted.
I have sent in transcripts and paid the 100 dollar fee!!!!
Anyone else have this problem or are you all seeing admitted?

Wow...i know how you feel!
I had a 24 points then with the C instead of the A that brought my pre req from 3.86 to 3.59 and my overall took a nose dive from 3.2 to 3.0
And the portions of the TEAS they look at, of course are my WORSE subjects! I only got like a total of 7 or 8 points for that section plus my CNA job. So I think I have like 18 points or something. Really low. I was so mad when they told me that. It isnt anywhere in the brochure.
Oh well. Done deal.
I guess I will pay it and waste my money. I doubt my score will get me in. I hope the cutt off is low but i am not hopeful
Relax!
I bet everything is fine!
They are probably just putting incomplete so they can make sure everything is set and good then you get admitted!
I wouldn't worry too much about the university as I would about the program. But then again, you have a shoe in score. So just sit back and let the acceptance letter come to you!

I am a current student @ CSULA and I remember having the same problem. Trust me, admission to the university has nothing to do with admission into the program. You might want to check if you have any holds or things to do on GET though. If not, you're good to go. That happened to me when I was first applying there. I called admissions and they said that they were in the process of finalizing everything.
You should be ok! good luck everyone!!
I hope this week is it!

I think it's better to pay regardless.. Because if you get waitlisted, or denied at first, you can't go back and pay.
