CSU Los Angeles School of Nursing (CSULA Fall 2012)

U.S.A. California

Hello,

I thought I'd make this thread for the new application group... even though it's a bit late since we have to all apply soon!

Anyway! I want to apply for the Fall 2012 term but I had some questions. I am an current CSULA student that transferred to CSULA in Fall 2010. I'm a Psychology major but am applying for Fall 2012 Nursing. I haven't taken my TEAS yet, but I'll be taking that on Friday (!!), so I'm very nervous about that.

That said, this is my first question:

I've been getting mixed info from different people. When I visited the Academic Advising Office last Spring (2011), the adviser told me that as long as I did not graduate from CSULA BEFORE I graduated, I could apply to the SON as a BSN applicant. I called SON to see if I could even apply for the ELM program and they told me that as far as they knew, I could not because I did not have my Bachelor's Degree yet.

So right now, I have approximately 2 quarters left in order to finish my Psychology major, approximately 6~8 classes. Ideally, I could finish by Spring 2012, but depending on my other workloads, I could push it back to Fall 2012. The problem is that I'm not allowed to graduate if I want to go into the basic program so I can't apply for graduation just yet. But IF I don't get into the BSN program, then I have to wait another two quarters after May or June or whenever they send out acceptances in order to officially graduate.

So I went to go and talk to my adviser about graduation and if I should even bother applying for Spring 2012 graduation and she tells me that no, I'm not allowed to apply for a BSN but I can go for the ELM program.

Does anyone know which is true? The CSULA advisers tell me that I can't apply for the Basic program but I can apply for ELM while the SON says that I can't apply for ELM because I don't have my Bachelor's degree yet and I should apply for the BSN program. Other graduate schools like APU and UCLA have also told me the same thing - without a Bachelor's, I cannot get apply for the ELM program at their school.

Thank you~

@ Sirena,

CONGRATS! I'm new to this thread but I also applied to the BSN program for fall 2012, and just received my acceptance e-mail also :) I spoke with ----- in the nursing dpt today and he said we should expect acceptance letters to the program around May. Good luck to ya and congrats again! :yeah:

Oh, JK! I checked the iGET thingy and I was admitted too! Not like it matters since my score sucks the big one!

Oh well. I am glad you guys got accepted and everything! Dont you worry! You guys should get your acceptance letters sometime next month!

I wasn't admitted to the uni. yet haha! I think it's cause I still haven't sent in transcripts, but I'm too focused on CSULB right now lol!

Yay! Congrats :) sorry to rain on your parade a bit but where do you look on GET? I just got my email saying I was accepted to the university & all that, but my status on GET still says "initiated" lol good god......

This whole application process is stressing me out. I'm falling into depression/anxiety, SERIOUSLY

Did you guys all send transcripts to the admissions office? Including Fall 2011?

Yes, I sent mine in a few weeks ago. Yeah, you focus on CSULB! :) Good luck on your interview.

Yay, got my acceptance letter from the school as well. Very surprised!

I think the CSULA's SON dept. is messed up. They should prioritize CSULA students because WELL they are THEIR students. They paid their tuition for CSULA. Part of that tuition goes to the nursing dept budget. I still dont get how in other CSUs they prioritize their students over transfer students but not in CSULA! Also, the prerequisites classes are way harder in CSULA than in other CCs nearby. Trust me, I've taken same classes in CSULA and in other CCs nearby and I can guarantee that CSULA's classes are much much difficult. The Microbio in CSULA is ridiculously hard. Only half of the class passes with a C or better while the rest gets a D or an F. Its impossible to get an A in that class. Ive taken a microbio class in ELAC and I aced with no problem. So all you transfer students panicking with your 20-30 points should stop whining cause for sure all you are gonna get in! Consider yourselves lucky.

Go to the eagle iview sign in. pick the top choice on the left after you sign in.

once it gives you a layout of other places to go, pick student center. from there, it should show you the main page with account info and payments and class schedule and other blahblahblahblah.

scroll to bottom and it should have a green checkmark next to admission status fall 2012, and that means your admitted.

I have not gotten an email yet, should I worry? Maybe this is a good sign?

How totally funny and typical for me to get denied admission to CSULB but get interview but not accepted in the program and it happens VICE VERSA at CSULA? I get accepted to CSULA but get denied into the program. So typical alyssa luck! (that is what I call my misfortunes)

Anyway, I doubt I will get into either one, but hey at least CSULB wants to interview me!
