CSU Los Angeles School of Nursing (CSULA Fall 2012)

Published

Hello,

I thought I'd make this thread for the new application group... even though it's a bit late since we have to all apply soon!

Anyway! I want to apply for the Fall 2012 term but I had some questions. I am an current CSULA student that transferred to CSULA in Fall 2010. I'm a Psychology major but am applying for Fall 2012 Nursing. I haven't taken my TEAS yet, but I'll be taking that on Friday (!!), so I'm very nervous about that.

That said, this is my first question:

I've been getting mixed info from different people. When I visited the Academic Advising Office last Spring (2011), the adviser told me that as long as I did not graduate from CSULA BEFORE I graduated, I could apply to the SON as a BSN applicant. I called SON to see if I could even apply for the ELM program and they told me that as far as they knew, I could not because I did not have my Bachelor's Degree yet.

So right now, I have approximately 2 quarters left in order to finish my Psychology major, approximately 6~8 classes. Ideally, I could finish by Spring 2012, but depending on my other workloads, I could push it back to Fall 2012. The problem is that I'm not allowed to graduate if I want to go into the basic program so I can't apply for graduation just yet. But IF I don't get into the BSN program, then I have to wait another two quarters after May or June or whenever they send out acceptances in order to officially graduate.

So I went to go and talk to my adviser about graduation and if I should even bother applying for Spring 2012 graduation and she tells me that no, I'm not allowed to apply for a BSN but I can go for the ELM program.

Does anyone know which is true? The CSULA advisers tell me that I can't apply for the Basic program but I can apply for ELM while the SON says that I can't apply for ELM because I don't have my Bachelor's degree yet and I should apply for the BSN program. Other graduate schools like APU and UCLA have also told me the same thing - without a Bachelor's, I cannot get apply for the ELM program at their school.

Thank you~

DarBluePhoenix- You can see it as me waving the positive flag because I happen to have more points than you do, but you have no idea of my chances for being accepted and neither do I. I have said before that I still worry about being accepted and your thinking I don't need to worry doesn't change that. You are not the person making the decisions so you don't have the right to negate the way anyone else feels about their chances. You can say and feel whatever you want, but I will say that you have a terrible attitude about this. I came here hoping to connect with others that are also impatiently waiting to see if we will get the chance to embark on this journey or not. Your constant bitter posting makes it hard. You aren't posting facts, you are complaining that you don't think it is fair and the rest of us have no right to be concerned about being selected. I have seen several people as well as myself try to reassure you, but you refuse to take any positive feedback. You can throw my positive outlook in my face, but I am at peace with whatever happens while clearly you are not. If I get denied in April, I will regroup and find another way because it won't be the end of the world. I hope you would do the same. I wish you the best and hope everything works out for you.

Wow calm down!

For one, I AM NOT COMPLAINING. The only thing I am complaining about is that second degree people have two shots at getting into a nursing program then we do. WHICH THEY DO AND IT IS A FACT. So sorry you cant see that. It is what it is and YES I know that life is NOT fair, as you have made that abundantly clear. I lived its unfairness and I assure you I can do it again.

Secondly,I was making a joke! God Lighten up! I am very sarcastic (hard to tell on a forum) so when I say you have no right to worry that is a joke! Of course your going to worry, even if I had all 30 or 31 points or whatever I would worry too! Just trying to bring some bloody humor here and you jump down my throat!

Sorry my posts aren't as sunshiny as yours. Congratulations! You get the sunshine award (another joke, ha ha)

I am not throwing your positiviness in your face, it was, again, a JOKE. positive guru, positive flag or whatever i said, haha I thought it was funny. Apparently me and me alone.

I am just very stressed about this thing, other schools, the whole wait and my current classes/work.

It is just a way to express myself, which apparently offends you oh so greatly, and if you actually read my previous post, I will stop being my bitter self as you aptly put it and post when someone has a concerning question.

Pm me if you want to further this "discussion" instead of posting it here and hijacking the thread!

Good day!

Clearly you don't see my intent either, and that is fine. To each their own. I'm not trying to pick a fight. It's hard to read tone into a written message to or from a stranger, and yours is hardly friendly either so I'll bow out. Good luck to each of you, I truly hope you each find success and get accepted to the program of your choice. Hopefully I'll get the chance to meet some of you the fall!

We can a agree to disagree. I will only post to answer questions.Good luck!

I can agree to disagree. The real irony is that if we are both lucky enough to be accepted, we will probably end up good friends as I am very sarcastic and have a quirky sense of humor in person too. I think the stress gets to us all. I just hate to see anyone get so down on themself because I know we have all worked very hard and all deserve to get in. I will keep my fingers crossed for you because I really do think things will work out better for you than you think!

That would so be me! The irony would be such an awesome story! Ha ha It's really hard to like express your self thru internet forums. Anyone can take the intentions in whatever form suits their mood. Ya know? It's a big miss communication on here! Thanks for the up lift. Truly, its beyond stressful. I tend to take stress out on myself lol. And we have all worked long and hard to get at this place. To finally apply and test our chances. Our hard work, will pay off! (Uh oh optimism....this is scary! Lol)

Lol I will search you guys out to remind you of this if I get in.Haha I bet fall 2013 applicants will be like "damn jerks wasted my time! Made me read all this!!!"

LOL! Ha! If we all got in, that would be a blessing, it really would. Since I'm the only one of friends applying to this program, I will be alone :/ But if yall get in then at least we somewhat know each other before we start! Ya know?

Just curious am I the only guy here?

So far yes, I believe.

Make sure to call the CSULA nursing to verify your points. They said I have a 3.5 pre req (apparently just like CSULB they take the first class you took). A 3.15 overall which should be a 3.2My teas which is 7 points total plus healthcare experience. So that puts me at like 18 points. Wow. ...................

Did you argue to bring it to 23?
