CSU LB not accepting spring 2012 transfers?

U.S.A. California

Published

Hey everyone!

I am applying (hopefully) to Cal State Long Beach this fall for spring 2012 admission!

Problem is, I heard, that they are NOT taking spring transfers. I know this is really early to be questioning this especially since its still early into the year.

So anyone know? I would love to get in this school but I mean if they aren't taking transfers I can always wait until spring to apply, especially since I apply in fall I will have a course in progress, and I am pretty much sure that I won't get in anyway.

Any info from anyone in the nursing program or applying would be greatly appreciated.

BTW I am not a CSULB student, I am attending citrus college. So yes, I would be considered a 'transfer'.

Into the nursing program?

My score would be too low. I will gave chem in progress as well as taking a different math to replace my B with hopefully an A

Thanks though

@ BeachBedHead you can't replace a grade, go to the CSULB NSG website and look at the application it states the first grade received in each category is the one they are going to take( in other words you can't take another course and use the higher grade)

are you talking about the first item in red

"The first GE course taken which fulfills a GE category requirement will be used for the Pre-NRSG GPA calculation"

Ugh they changed it! That was not how it was last semester!!!

Ugh well that is fine then I guess they will take my B in trig (which isn't even listed, so I am assuming they will take it since its the FIRST math course I have taken)

Thats fine, as long as I ace philosophy this summer (92% average so far) and ace chem in the fall, and at least a 90% on Math and TEAS than I should have about 9.22 points

@BeachBedHead I don't know if Trig counts unless they changed it since I went to the info meeting...The lady kept saying we had to take Statistics...my points are around a 9.24 if I get a 90 on the TEAS so hopefully we'll be classmates!!

See that is why I am going to take statistics this fall along with chem, to replace trig (B) but if they dont take trig then I guess they will take pre cal (C :crying2:)

You think they will take that over trig? Cause if i can get that and take it and get an A, then it puts me at 9.35 points

I honestly think that if we have over 9 points we should be pretty competitive.

What else did they say at the info meeting? I am trying to get over there but I live pretty far away...

i hope that we are classmates! I am applying to the school in august and then I am applying to the SON in jan for fall 2012

I think she said pre-calc would count...I would check on assist.org just to double-check everything...she said the usual: it's an excellent program, very competitive lol...my problem is that I aced all my sciences and statistics, i just received B's in the 2 English courses and a B in speech as well...I pray every night that I'll get in...Those 2 English courses were honors at my college and it says so on my transcript, so do you think they'd take that into consideration?

If pre cal counts then so should trig. it does transfer, which according to assist it does

and I even email the BSN admin coord. and this was her reply copy and pasted from my email

"According to assist.org, Math 151 is a transferable QR course."

If not, I hope against all that they take stats.

I, like you, have B's in english comp and speech (and now math:down:) so taking philosophy as the critical thinking and getting an A saves me.

I know how you feel and now that CSULB put that restriction on us now it might make things more even. I don't think its fair at all that if you had a bad year or whatever that they take the "first" class as a GE GPA.

BUT as I said, it makes us all more even against each other.

I also have all A's in anatomy, physio, micro (and hopefully chem!) so we are pretty evenly compared

your a transfer right? are you applying for fall 2012?

CSULB is my top choice since my current location restricts me to local schools.

Yes, I am a transfer and I will be applying in Fall 2012...Its super competitive so

as you said it'll put us on an even playing field....What other schools are you considering BeachBedHead?

Just CSULB (top choice which is why I am applying to the school a semester early), CSULA, and CSUSB. Maybe apu as last resort since I would have to go their victorville campus. Also some ADNs as a last resort. I doubt I'm competitive enough for any san Diego or san Francisco schools. It would be nice to apply to a few but I am restricted financially to schools in a 60 mile radius

You?

CSULA, SF State, Fresno State, Sac State, Fullerton, and CSULB...thank god that CSULA doesn't factor in Micro& Speech for determining your pre-req GPA(woohooo!!). I really want to go to LB or SF State because their programs are really good...you are definitely competitive for any school you apply to, have faith in yourself it never hurts to give it a shot
