Did anyone apply to CSU Bakersfield? I applied for the Spring 2010.

well i was thinking applying for the program for fall 2011 which mean i have to fill out the application this fall. so this fall and spring, im thinking of taking statisitc, public speaking, critical thinking , child psychology and ofcourse the nutrition and pathophy. But my school dont have the nutrition and patho. that would articulate with bakersfield. Im also thinking of applying to CSU LA and channel Islands but the thing is : nutrition and patho. is not required.

SO I really dont know should i waste my time to take those two courses if im not sure I would get in the CSUB nursing program or not. But if i should take it, the probelm is that i dont know where to take it beside transfering to CSU Bakerfields and taking the courses there. What everyone is saying is that you I dont need to take the patho unless im admitted into the program. SO if I apply this fall for the following fall program (2011), I wouldnt know the result of admittance until like around late spring. After that, I shoould consider taking the courses over summer at CSUB, is this correct? And about nutrition courses, on the assist.org, it doesnt articulate with the CSUB courses requirement. But I did took a nutrition class before. I just hope that they would take it. thanks for answering my question everyone.

Just to be clear again, I shoould take pathophysiology once im accepted into the program correct? Should take it for summer 2011 for the Fall 2011 program?

Okay, here is the deal. Don't take Patho, if you get accepted into the fall 2011 class then you will take it Summer 2011. They will automatically admit you a quarter earlier. As far as nutrition goes, email ---------- with the course name, the school you took it at and the catalog description. She will get back to you if it is equivalent or not so that way you don't have to waste your time taking another course. So, just call the number on the website and email!! If the course is NOT equivalent, take an online nutrition class through a school where the course is equivalent like I stated before :)

Also, just to let you know, I applied to Channel Islands for this upcoming fall semester and I didn't get in. That school is really competitive. Bako is one of the least competitive, and it seems like it is still pretty hard to get into. The TEAS is a MAJOR determining factor if you look at the point value for the different scores. So study, study, study! If I don't get into fall then I'm going to retake the TEAS till I get a 94 so I can get max points. But, other schools don't even look at TEAS, they are more interested in volunteering and work experience and gpa. Good luck!

thanks for the reply on the pathophysiology class. That clears up everything for me. I have to admitt with you, the TEAS score is the final decision of your acceptance into the program so definitely study hard for that. Thanks for the advice. Im planning to apply to Channel islands too, i hope it wont be that bad.

I haven't applied for the Spring 2011 program but I'm scared to even try :chair: I took the teas test and got 82, which is okay. My I completed most of my pre-reqs except for critical thinking and Lifespan development and from my understanding I'm okay to apply but have to have course completed before Spring 2011 starts. MY BIGGEST CONCERN is I tried to see when to apply for summer and fall courses and they aren't accepting any transfer student, does that mean transfer student like myself can't apply to the nursing program??

What should I do, what should I expect?? then the pathophysiology class. I can't take it till I get in, and I don't know when that will be!! Can anyone tell me about the class to, do I have to take it before or after-or what!!!

Jamie,

From my understanding, you will be able to apply to the overall school for Spring 2011 over the summer. There will be a 60 day time frame, but I advise you apply within the first week! Last year, I heard they closed the app period early due to budget cuts, so you don't want to have the same thing happen again to you this summer. Don't worry about Pathophys, if you get in, the nursing advisor will enroll you for Winter quarter. You will basically have 1 week to move because they can't figure out who got into the program until after all grades are in from Fall 2010 and interviews. If we get in for fall 2010 we have 7 days to move! You will apply to the nursing program over the summer as well...they haven't posted the new info on the website though. If I don't get in Fall 2010 I am going to apply for spring 2011 too. So, make sure you take the crit thinking and lifespan class either over the summer or fall semester. Good luck!

Do you think I should retake my teas test?

ps. thanks for the reply

It depends, what is your gpa?? It's all about point totals....if I don't get in fall with an 88% teas then I'm going to retake it this summer!

Hi everyone,

This is the only CSUB thread I found, so I was wondering if anyone was accepted to the program for Fall 2010?

Hi Kat87!

I was accepted into the Fall 2010 nursing class! Were you? I am moving on Monday to the dorms to start Patho :)

Congratulations, starness! So was I! I have to take patho also, so I'm planning on going up this weekend to look at apartments... I was thinking of a temporary place for the summer, since I'm not familiar with the area and am moving in last minute. Do you plan on staying in the dorms for the two years?

Yes! I feel that it is the safest option and pretty reasonable since it includes food. They also have a nursing floor starting fall that is girls only, so it will be a great way to study with our class! Do you have a fb?

I do. I tried to private message you, but can't since I don't have 15 posts. Feel free to pm me. That's great that there will be a floor designated to nursing students. Definitely sounds like a good support system for studying. So did you previously live in Bakersfield or go to CSUB? How do you like the town?
