CSN RN Spring 2013

U.S.A. Nevada

Published

Hello everyone, I'm new to the site and I was wondering if there are any fellow CSN RN Spring '13 hopefuls out there. I just turned in my application today and I would love to get to know some of my potential classmates through this forum :)

I got accepted into the spring 2013 program. so excited to start! Going into it blind though, glad I tried researching the program itself and found this thread, so much information that it's nice to get a jump start on. I had no idea about this toolbox course! I signed up for the one in December, going to wait until orientation to sign up for the one in January.

I was curious if there was a facebook group for the spring 2013 course yet, and if someone could link me if there was.

As far as I know, no one on this thread has mentioned a Facebook group but I wouldn't mind joining one. I will look into making one. I've never had a Facebook group so I'm not sure how it works :)

The FB groups are awesome! just make sure, whoever the admins are, monitors it. We have about 70 students on our group, and it's super helpful! Just no posting test questions/answers, stuff like that. Someone will rat you out and you will get in trouble! It's common sense but sometimes people forget!

Well, in my first semester I had Ron, and he said 75% white, but thats him! Other teachers will say completely white. Your 3rd week in ACE you will wear your uniform and your teacher will look over it to make sure everything is good. They will tell you what is ok for them or not!

Hello a little bit off the subject, while looking online at csn bookstore for nursing 101 its says 6 required books and 20 recommended...i am aware we will be informed but my question is ..is the total of 26 books considered to be the bundle we will need ...just curious , hmmmm alot of books lololol please inform:wideyed:

please keep me posted on facebook page

So much info since I last stopped by! Words cannot describe how excited I am to start the program already. I am so excited for Friday's orientation and also excited to meet you guys...finally! I think a Facebook group is a great idea too.

I have other concerns though...

I'm sure I am not the only one who works full time and got into the program. I've been told by several people that it's impossible to work full time and do well in the program, but not everyone can afford to not have a job so I'm sure its been done before. I want to wait and see what my class schedule will be like before I talk to my boss to make the necessary changes. There are several options for me. I could cut back my hours (to 4 days/week) and still maintain FT status and keep benefits. Cut back to part time (lose benefits). Change my shift (currently work swing. graveyard is a possibility). The RN program is my main priority and if I have to, I am willing to ditch the job...just not preferable.

I can't be the only one with this concern, right? I've thought about this for months and can't make up my mind. I don't have any kids that I need to support but I do have my own bills to pay. Y'all don't have to tell me what your plans are, that's none of my business but any input from you guys would be a big help!

Well I personally Am gonna most likely stop working and justvwork in the summer but my husband has a great income to support our family but if you have to graveyard dont seem like it would interfere with any of the schedules, but everybody study and learning styles are different . How did you do while in pre nursing ?

I did pretty well and maintained good grades. That said, I will shamefully admit that I have poor study habits and have gotten away with simply being a good test taker. The prerequisites were fairly simple for me and I felt that I did not have to study much to retain the information. I am 99.9% sure that nursing classes will be different and that I will have to put in more time to study. My best friend went through an RN program (in a different state) and we are almost identical in habits....she cried a lot during her run in nursing school. So I am pretty sure I will have to make a change somewhere.

Hmmm well you will have to make some type of adjustments im sure but I have a toddler son so most of my studying will be done during daycare hours , im sure you may not have kids.. do you? so at least for me I have to manage that also so working is out the question

Ok so I started a facebook group called CSN Nursing 2013-2014. I have never created a facebook group so I'm not really sure if I did it right. Please go check it out and like/become a member and let me know if there are any issues with it! :D

Im working full time currently- waiting until I get my schedule to figure out if I'll drop my hours to PT or just quit:( so excited to be in the program but nervous about the income loss also... I did work two jobs during pre nursing- but I know the program will require a lot more studying so I'm really keeping my fingers crossed for a schedule that allows me to work 15-20 hours! We will see good luck to everyone!

Also, please post you all nurses name on the wall so we all know who everyone is! :D
