CSN FALL 2016

U.S.A. Nevada

Published

Hey everyone I just wanted to start a thread for fall applicants. I dropped off my application today ♡♡♡♡ anyone else applying?

I am in the same situation for Spring 2017. I am meeting with the Dean on 6/7/2016. I may take the test again, but i what i want to know is, if i take the test again and don't pass, will my waiver still be good.

How does the application process go for those with a waiver? I have 36 points, also.

Are we pushed to the end, like an alternate or do we get to go with those at 36 points.

I cannot skip another semester.

See my above comment.

So the people that passed the KAT would be accepted first, then the memos, then the alternates? Is that correct? Yes I have time to take it again. It would be in July. What if I don't pass it again though, then I have to use the waiver, because I definitely wouldn't have time to take it again before the deadline.

I'm not sure how many people are applying this semester, but my counselor said for the past 2 years practically everyone got in because there weren't a lot of applications for some reason. There's something like 166 seats including part time seats, and they only had about 180 applicants.

I'm probably just going to retake the test and pray for the best.

I'm taking it July 30th, and I only have one chance at taking it - I'm soooooo nervous. You have nothing to lose taking it again, and I have heard it's the identical test, so just try to remember what you missed and study that. You're right though, you might have nothing to worry about with getting in with a memo, but is it worth the risk???

Are you applying for the regular or part-time track?

I'm going to apply for full time. I have a family, but I think is doable. If I find it to be too hard after the first semester I'm going to see if I can move over to part time. I just want to be a nurse already. I hate to keep telling my family and friends im still in school. I'll be 32 this year. And all my best girlfriend are nurses already. I'm the last one lol

I totally get it!! I have 4 kids from 8-2 and am applying for full time as well, and I'm older than you. ;) I was 1 class away from applying (out of state) 10 years ago, then decided having kids was something I couldn't put off, but nursing was. This is my first semester back. Hopefully we both make it in and all this anxiety will have been worth it!

I agree. I put off nursing to have a family as well. Could've been done 2 years ago, but everything is the way it's suppose to be. Good luck to the both of us. And extra good luck on your KAT!

I am going into 4th semester and I will be the first to tell you it's doable. I have a husband, 6 year old daughter, and work two part time jobs...and I have done that since day one. It has been extremely hard but it can be done. I will tell you that the first year is so hard...first two semesters made me second guess my commitment for sure but I survived and you will two. Part time was never an option for me because my husband works fulltime and I needed to be with my daughter during the summer she is out of skool. Everyone is fulltime first semester after that part timers do have it alot more manageable than fulltimers but it is really hard to go from one to the other... it does get approved just not for everyone. So whatever path you choose to go make sure you are prepared to take it. I do wish you all the best of luck :)

Has everyone read the new acceptance qualifications for Fall 2017?

No but I will check it out!

How do you obtain the waiver? If you meet with the Dean, what do they do or what do they ask you? Do they review transcript(s) if so how do they feel about repeated courses?

I looked but do not see any differences in the requirements. If there are any what are they?

Good for you!!! I have put off nursing as well. My husband hit a rocky path in employment after we moved to Vegas. Later we began our family and I ended up on bed rest. Now,, I have 2 boys a 2yr old and a 6year old along with a FT job Tues-Saturday. I have to flex my schedule to got BIO 224 class. With the Bio class I will have 32 points. I am going to apply for the PT track. I hate the PT track will take about 2yrs... but this is my dream and what I want. I have been giving my family everything they need and want and now I have to get mine as well. Not being selfish but as a Mother that is how it is sometimes, at times we get put on the back-burner by our own doing or others. Whichever, I'm 40++ so time is not on my side as much as it was years ago, I got to get this done so that my dreams come true.
