Anybody who will be taking the CRNE on October 5, 2011, please post your comments and suggestions here like making a study group, sharing notes, meeting at the library or anything that will help the examinees pass the examination. Thanks!
I'm from Toronto.. sighhh.. I think I should take the June 2012 exam. That's exactly 1 year from taking my first exam. I have only 1 more chance to take this exam.. I don't wanna screw up now, if anyone has any advice to give me please tell me. I will have about 6.5 months to prep for this exam.. I really hate this..I even took the prep course at Toronto School of Health...sighhh
If you need help with anything. Send me your email.
Hi there,
I finally received my envelope tonight. It is a pass. I was in doubt at least for the last 2-3 weeks because I hardly remember any questions out of that exam; also, I had 2 dreams in which I lost the plane...I am relieved although jobless yet...It was my first attempt (I did not go to the June sitting because it seemed to me I did not have enough time to prepare this exam properly). My receipe was: reading the entire Lewis Med Surge (basically re-reading the highlighted parts), reading the Community book (Stamler - same story); reading the Perry & Potter (the clinical skills) but only the introduction and the ending of each chapter (not the description of the skills), reading the CNA & CNO important documents (like the Compendium). Once I read all these, I started the mq from Lippincott and almost all the CNA prep guides; then, I read the Mosbys Comprehensive (to refresh the info) and I did once more the mq that I answered first time wrong. In the end, I took the CNA readiness test. I was not able to read the Psych book that I intended to read (did not have enough time). I went to the exam with the idea that I did what I could and I tried to focus during the exam on ABC, patient-centred, safety always, eliminate absolute words and letting go and pick an answer when I did not know a certain question. A good book that has everything about the psychosocial aspect of the exam is Interpersonal Relationships by Arnold & Boggs that I also did not have time to review unfortunately ( first pick for me to read in case that I would have failed).
Good luck guys next time and never forget to believe in yourself...the power of the subconscious mind...
Congrats for those who were luckier and have great careers! Let us make the difference out there and care for our patients exactly how we studied...
Congratulations to all of you who have passed! It must be such a relief! I am still waiting for my results.. =( Any word yet from anyone in Alberta?
For those who got their results, did it come in a big brown envelope? Were there alot of papers inside?
Also, thank you for those who gave out the passing mark of 114. I am just wondering what it was out of.
In june when I failed, the envelop was thicker, i mean bulky..This time I passed, it was really thin..Tip- Always eliminate the wrong answer before attempting to pick an answer. it worked for me
Thanks! Was the envelope similiar to the one you got before? like brown or was it white and smaller in size. Thank you.
Hi everyone,
I am IEN from Vancouver. Today I received my exam result and I passed. This was my first time.
Tips for those who couldn't make it: don't study very hard! Instead try to understand what they are expecting from a Canadian nurse. If it was like NCLEX I would definitely told you to study as hard as you can from different resources but when it comes to CRNE... I should say the most important thing is " how to manage situations as a nurse".
My strategy in exam was crossing the wrong answer to find the correct one because at the first glance all of the answers seemed wrong! I also strongly recommend CNA online readiness test. In my opinion it is a reliable predictor on your performance on the exam. I got 75% for first version and 78% for the second one. If your percent is less than 70% then maybe its a alarm for you to withdraw the exam and put off the exam date.
I didn't take any course for CRNE and started studying from mid AUG, 3-4 hours daily. The quality of your study is more important than the number of books, hours, courses....
For those who failed: don't give up and try to find your week points that adversely affects your performance and work on it.
Good luck to your next attempt.
nurserlchi there, was it a big white envelope? from those who have previously passed, they informed me that the envelope is very light because there are only a couple pieces of paper inside... is this true? thanks! & congratulations to you!
the envelope i recieved was white with 2 pieces of paper inside...one was the one which started with " we are pleased to inform you..." and another one with the info for actual registration.
