Anybody who will be taking the CRNE on October 5, 2011, please post your comments and suggestions here like making a study group, sharing notes, meeting at the library or anything that will help the examinees pass the examination. Thanks!
I'm from vancouver area (burnaby to be exact)... I passed! Tips? Answer all questions and answer them for the second time and reread rationales of each question. Familiarize the type of questions, the style. Mosby is very helpful. Lippincott wasn't helpful to me and NCLEX type questions...
Hey everyone! I'm from Toronto and just received my results today and passed! For those who didn't, keep working hard and never stop believing in yourself. You worked hard for four years so that means you deserve to be a registered nurse! For upcoming exam takers TIPS and ADVICE: STUDY AT LEAST A MONTH IN ADVANCE. Go through a few systems every day and quiz yourself. Make yourself recall the Same information everyday. Do as many practice questions as you can!! and remember SAFETY FIRST and your ABC's! Airway breathing and circulation!
Hello everyone, I did it. I received my letter today. I am from Richmond Hill, Ontario. This was my second try. It feels so good ).
Tips: I studied for two months about 4-6 hours/day. And do a lot of practice questions (CNA, Mosby & Lippincott). Also, read the CNA competencies everyday, it will give you an idea on what you need to study. This time I said NO to all my distractions!
For those who are still waiting, hang on and good luck. And to those that were unsuccessful, do not give up! It's okay to cry for couple of days but pick yourself up and study again.
PS: for those who were unsuccessful what was the passing mark? I was just wondering because last June was 112/176.
Do you guys recommend me doing the hand scoring of the test?...or does anyone know of anyone who did the handscoring and ended up passing?
Hi. My firsy try was last June and I was two points off and I asked for a hand score but still ends up a fail. I haven't heard anyone yet passing with the hand scoring but it doesn't hurt to try. I think you should do it because you never know.
just try and try until you get lucky!!! exam is all about luck... there are people who didn't study much, pass anyways. but still, familiarizing how they formulate the questions is the best you can do and analyze what they want you to choose for the best answer. it's not all about knowlege, it's all about choosing the best asnwer strategy. so, practice as much questions and do them again and again till you get it right. haveyo u ever tried answering same wrong answers? that's just the same as doing the real exam. that's why we fail again...
staff note: please do not use text speak in your posts. allnurses.com does not charge by the letter but we do require that you use proper english spelling, grammar and punctuation.
Received my white envelope today and it was a PASS!!! For those who didn't make it this time around, I would suggest using the resources available at freshnurse.ca...it will cost around $50 but I found it to be extremely helpful (in addition to doing as many questions as possible - and scrutinizing the rationales to each one). I found freshnurse has a strategy that is very applicable to the CRNE as well as numerous independent questions and a core review that is quite helpful (case studies were not that great). Good luck and keep faith, your hard work WILL pay off.

Hi everyone..
I am from Scarborough.I got my pass mark today :-)..woooooooo..I wrote it for the second time too.I found it easier to understand compared to June which I failed by 2marks.
I went to the Toronto school of health prep course a month before the exam in September so everything remains fresh. I didnt register in August because I knew I wont be able to force myself to read for the remaining 1 month.. I must say, the course was very helpful and refreshed my memory from 1st nursing school information to 4th year. Also, the teacher made sure to review all competencies with questions to support. I made sure to ask questions. I learnt things I know will be very helpful in my practice. I am sooo glad I went to the school. Its expensive but worth it.
I made sure to understand the competencies. Very important!
I stayed clear of all mosby books i.e. comprehensive review and practice questions. This is because I used it the last time and it wasnt hopeful. As well I find it has lots of patho information not really psychosocial.
I did lots of practice questions from the prep course and lippincot crne book.
I read potter and perry for community and other information. Also, each chapter has 10 questions, I tried to do some of it and read the rationales at the back.
I used the Crne prep guide which was helpful.
I read information online and some notes from university.
I surrounded my self with positive people who constantly encouraged me and prayed.
I prayed and fasted alot with a friend which helped me alot because without God I could do nothing.
I made sure to arrive the exam hall about 1+ early because the last time, I got there about 30mins to start time and didnt eat breakfast, so my mind wasnt settled.
During the exam I encouraged myself and prayed. Even during the last 10mins I had less than 20 questions left, I made sure to answer the questions till the stop time instead of panicking and ticking off random answers.
Make sure to review your work because I made some mistakes wish I found out when reviewing. After each case study questions, I recheck to make sure I transferred the right answers into the scantron, that way I didnt have to worry too much at the end to review everything.
Think positive thoughts. Tell yourself you can do it and you have to be strong for yourself. Eat, sleep and relax.
Oh, I stopped studying at about 12pm or 6pm the day before.
I made sure to always pray before studying and ask the Holyspirit to guide me.
Study like its the end of the world. I have never studied so much in my life as I did for this exam. I went in feeling prepared and excited. I came out knowing that what I studied was on the exam and I have done my best so its up to God.
