Hi everyone, Im an Irish nurse preparing for the CRNEs for February 2012 in Toronto. Didnt see any thread for this exam in February, so thought id start one. How is everyone preparing? Im using the CRNE prep guide doing Qs and studying the competencies. Any tips/advice? Happy studying!!

No need for the hostility, Matt joey. I don't understand where that's coming from. Just focus on passing your exam.

Canadian-trained nurses are also required to write the CRNE. It's how they become registered nurses. So I don't know where you're getting that notion from MattJoey.

That's the right word but there's no such thing as Canadian trained CRNE writers!

I'll bite. What would YOU call someone who was trained in Canada who was writing the CRNE if not a Canadian-trained CRNE writer?

Simple! If you call them "Canadian-trained CRNE writer" then they won't fail the written exam. They are called "Canadian educated nurses" because it's not an assurance that you have graduated in Canada you will pass the exam. I'm not talking about statistics here.

But they can not call them selves nurses until they sit and pass CRNE therefore they are still writers until they get their result

Okay, this has gone from the ridiculous to the sublime. But it explains a lot. Now let's return to our regularly-scheduled topic, preparing for the February CRNE.

You folks might want to have a look into the copyright on the review package from nurse2canada. If you're sharing copyrighted material there could be legal complications from that. Don't forget that this site is available to anyone with a computer/smartphone/tablet and an internet connection and it's not as anonymous as you think since you've all shared your email addresses publicly right here.

is it okay to still use CRNE books i bought from 2009 (Lippincott, Mosby)? Isn't it something about the exam was changed in 2010? Thanks

Specializes in NICU, PICU, PCVICU and peds oncology.

All that changed about the exam is the number of questions on it and the amount of time for writing it. The format, types of questions, wording and all the rest are unchanged.
