Hello! anybody out there?!!
I just received my confirmation to write the crne this February. I am now in desperation to get a review materials to study on. I am still in the process of acquiring the crne prep guide as this was what most of those taking the October 2009 CRNE but one thread says the shipping cost is far way too expensive. huhu
BUt however, the exam cost is to much to fail the test... so can anybody out there give tips? advises and how was it like? what to concentrate more?
In a forum big like this it is not the colour of you passport that defines you, but what and how you speak. So I beg everyone to please define their terms, check their grammar and spelling before posting. To the moderators and other members of allnurses.com, I ask you to be a little bit considerate and remind you that some of the other members here are non native English speakers. These people are doing their best to communicate in plain English, so instead of trying to ridicule and embarrass them, we should be doing just the opposite and compliment them for at least trying. Remember we all have different backgrounds and if we are strict (like most of the old matrons) and not flexible in our rules then how can we reach out to those nurses with limited English? Let us not force someone to be somebody. I say this because even though my loyalty is to the Queen of England, my English is no better than my Spanish, Chinese, Malay and Arabic. I have a huge circle of non-English speaking friends... but I don't believe in selective hearing.
It is not enough to know the rules, you must also know when to break them.
Hi,
I'm here in Toronto and I have not yet received my results. I have not checked the mail today. So maybe it will come this morning, but I will not hold my breath. The disappointment when I open the mail box and it is empty I'm finding incredibly frustrating, to the point of tears yesterday. I just want to start working, I have got a job already in critical care and just biting at the bit to start.
Sadly someone yesterday posted a thread saying they failed. Sorry to hear that news. However with this post apparently the pass mark is 142. Does this mean therefore you must get 142 questions or more correct to pass? With 300 questions that would be just under half correct......
I spoke to the CNO couple days ago and asked them is it true that people that failed were to find out first. The CNO confirmed that all people regardless of a pass or fail find out via mail at the same time. The person I spoke to on the phone at CNO could not confirm that our marks were in the mail all she said was that we will find out from the 3rd of March. So the waiting game continues.
Hope this helps.
I am not sure if the 142 is from 300 or less because remember that there is around 50-60 experimental questions that will not be counted..so it could be 142 over 240 (if 60 questions are experimental) which is a little more than half...but again I am not sure if this is the right way or not.
Anybody has any idea?
Mail just arrived here in downtown Toronto and nothing. So we wait another day. I wonder why people in BC have their results, but not us in Ontario. The CNO has the results. All the licensing bodies, get the exam results back at the same time. It is then up to the licensing body to mail out the results. What are they doing here in Ontario I wonder?

this question has been answered, both in this thread and in each of the preceding crne-realted threads. there is a sticky about the crne that explains everything very clearly. faq: the canadian registered nurse examination (crne) "the standard passing score ranges from 59-68%. but the standard passing score is determined by the level of difficulty of the exam as established by the crne examination committee."

this question has been answered too, in the thread about the october exam. https://allnurses.com/canadian-nurses/crne-7th-october-414382.html?highlight=crne post #239 "ontario is the most populous province and thus can be expected to have the greatest number of people writing and the greatest number or results to examine, document, collate and send out. the speed of all of this depends on how many people they employ to do the work. where does the money to pay these people come from? all those fees they charge applicants. ontario charges some of the lowest fees in canada... do the math."
