Hello! I wanted to ask if my understanding was correct. I’ve been looking at CRNA doctoral schools to apply to and their websites say that the cohort doesn’t start until 2 years later after the application. For example, Villanova states “Completed applications received by the close date of February 28, 2023 will be reviewed by the admission committee for the January 2025 Cohort.”

Does this mean that I apply in 2023 but don’t actually start the program until 2025?

if so, do you hear back by the end of 2023 or sooner or later?

I am quite confused!

Thank you!!

Yes, apply 2 years in advance for that program.

Most programs accept applications about 1 year before start. Or maybe 1.5 years. Then the interview process may take a month or 2, and offers will be made. Some applicants will accept a spot and keep interviewing at other programs. If they accept to program A, and 6 or 9 months later tell program A “I’m not coming” then the program offers the spot to someone else.

Some are 2 years in advance and then if they need to fill empty spots, they will move people up a year. When a program has trouble filling, the tendency is to interview earlier.

Wow! That’s insane. I guess it’s good because you can prepare but Sheesh.
