CRNA School Costs

Specialties CRNA

Published

I am trying to sock away as much money as I can while I'm still able to work and would like some insight on what I'm looking at.

I am interested in an actual student's account of how much their program is costing them. I'm talking books, tuition, room & board, living expenses, ect. Just as close to an all-inclusive price as you can get for your situation. Please list your school when posting as well.

Thanks,

Zack

My cousin went to CRNA school at Minneapolis School of Anesthesia and said for all 27 months her loans were about $100,000 and she has a home mortgage. The total cost of school is about $30,000. California and places with higher cost of living are going to be much higher.

Drexel's tuition is around $65,000 for the entire program. Not too many students that I know of are living on campus. Most are living with family or friends and some are doing roommates. I found a nice place in the Philadelphia suburbs in a small town called Conshohocken, PA and their luxury apartments tend to run about $1600/month for a 2BR/2Bath, which is about $950 cheaper than living in the city. I will be 14 miles away from downtown Philly and the regional train is directly across the street from the apartment complex. The school has an agreement with the train company to offer students a 10% discount for the monthly pass. I know it would be nice to live closer to school but the cost of living in the city is insane. Most apartments in the city want to charge you an extra $265 just to park your car in the parking garage. That is insane.

Do you guys know anyone who went through CRNA school with kids and how they handled it? I have three and I'm worried that I would be an absent parent and completely miss 3 years of their life.

My wife was basically a single parent for 28 months. She did everything at home plus worked full-time but that was the deal we made. When I hopefully pass boards, then she will retire for a couple years and then work PRN if she wants. I attended birthdays and had holidays, but I was very absent during any of the planning of said events.

I am about to start with three kids in tow. Also telling hubs he will b a single parent!
