Updated:   Published

Applying to Barry University Nurse Anesthesia Program for May 2020 cohort!! My GPA 3.89, ACLS/BLS/CCRN certified, 4 years of medical ICU experience.

Studying to take the GRE in May!

I am so nervous to apply. I am not good at standardized test.

What are other ppl stats? Do you think I'll get an interview.

Hmm I don’t know. I have their one year minimum of experience. I am working on getting my CCRN but I have heard of people being admitted without it as long as they have it before the start date. I don’t know what else. My GPA is around 3.8 and my gre was pretty strong as well. My ICU is level 1 and probably the best if not second best in our area. I really don’t know /:

Thank you for all your kind words everyone. I am a super positive person and this is only my first year working so I am excited to continue learning stuff apply next cycle. Good luck to everyone!

Hey! Just wanted to check back with you. Did you ever follow up and determine reasons behind your denial?

After some emails and calls for further clarification, they are going to review my application again. It was originally reviewed before my GRE scores were submitted. It was said they review every couple of weeks. So we’ll see..thankful for another review.

Yes I did get in touch with them! They said they would like me to have my CCRN (I submitted that I was testing in January) and that they would like me to have a chemistry lecture with a grade B or above. Even though my GPA is strong, I did get a C on my chem lecture which is important to them apparently. Hope this helps (-:

Great to hear back from you, so glad you got an answer. Are you currently re-taking chemistry? I am kind of in the same boat. I took Chemistry II in 2013 so it's beyond their 5 year requirement, currently enrolled now. Have all other requirements. Hopefully I hear from them.

When I got a response, it was mentioned about a more recent chemistry with a B (I took chemistry 2 in 2014 and got an A), however I took Organic Chemistry over the summer this year and got a B. So, slightly invalid there. I’m eligible to take my CCRN in October. They said they noted that in my application.

There are so many different factors to this process. Competitive depending on the direction you look. Have you applied anywhere else?

I will probably be retaking before I submit for next year. I live in south Florida so I’m just applying to the schools down here (FIU & UM) for now, but those applications don’t close until January/May. That chemistry class situation sounds very inconvenient but I hope you can retake and pass with an A. Good luck!

I definitely don’t need to retake. They had it wrong. I took Orgo Chem. Good luck! UM is on my list as well!
