Crisis travel assignments for Covid-19?

Nurses COVID

Updated:   Published

Hey all, hope you are all staying safe during this insanity. I was wondering if anybody has started to see crisis/high rate jobs posted yet? If so, post the specialty and company.

How much is a reasonable amount?

How much is too much?

What about some kind of pay scale that is dependent on experience, specialty, willingness to travel, or risk to one's life?

How much should nurses who work on helicopters, like LifeFlight, make?

Should they be entitled to hazard pay?

I'm sorry. As wonderful as it is you live within your means, unless someone (maybe your parents or a rich uncle) is paying your rent, your bills, buying your groceries, paying your medical bills, and putting gas in your Ford Focus, you are "strapped into working to make a certain amount of money just to survive..."

Especially because it doesn't seem like you are familiar with the concept of saving money...

We're all stuck making money to survive. You just have to come to terms with the fact that some people are willing to do more than you to get more than you.

Don't get me wrong. I'm pretty sure you're coming from a good place. The system is broken. And when I say that, I'm talking about the whole thing--society in general. We are doing it wrong. However, the holier than thou method is not the way to go about changing it.

....and nope....no rich anyone...my Dad is a cop.....walked a beat in the North End of Hartford for 20 years....he raised me....no silver spoon here....

.....@LC0929

It's not, but like I said before, you're not worth it. Your arguments about pay disparities during this pandemic continue to make no sense.

Is it worth waiting until the first batch of regular staff either fall sick and take time off for Corona (or resign outright), thereby giving you leverage in the market for the travel ICU and ER assignments. Here in Texas, the pay offers on NurseFly haven't gone up that much yet. Maybe it's best to keep the powder dry and wait until wages go up with higher attrition?

Just thought I'd throw in my thoughts on the huge discrepancy in pay for travelers in the Covid 19 environment. Absolutely the travelers should not getting so much more than the regular staff. It is time for all hospitals to use their bailout money to bring staff nurse pay up to traveler levels. But as know it will go to management bonuses instead.

The latest is the Federal stockpile is to be sold to the states that bid the most. It makes me sick to call myself an American.

Agreed

Here is the info for the 10k a week assignment seems like its 21 days only and 21 days back to back it is on the last page

Overall a 5k plus weekly 13 week contract would be more income, but here is an excellent option as well ?

Hey, I've been TRYING to go to one of these travel jobs to help fulfill their "critical need" for nurses during this crisis, but have been repeatedly turned down because I haven't worked in a hospital in 3 years and they are all requiring more recent experience -- within the past year. I have over 11 years of nursing experience, most from Med-Surg. I have my ACLS and my last job at the hospital was Med-Surg/Tele on a Cardiopulmonary unit. I also have experience in ortho, hospice and peds. It just kills me that with everything that is going on and watching the news every day, I know I am qualified and while I understand why they have the rule in place usually, at this time when things are so bad, I'm just kind of shocked that they are refusing my help! At a time when some doctors and nurses are coming out of retirement to return to work and a brand spankin' new nurse who ONLY has the past year under his/her belt would be hired with no problem, I just don't get it! OK sorry, had to vent!

Has anyone had a similar situation??? I really hope they change that silly rule very soon. I'm just doing homecare right now, which isn't my favorite but I thought I'd be doing travel nursing by now. I can't stand not doing anything to get out there and help!

those of you getting info for these crisis rates, can you say what agencies? I've heard AYA Healthcare and Pride Healthcare. Any others?

If you just search "Travel Nurse jobs" or crisis jobs, covid 19, etc. They all pop up, don't worry LOL!

But I know of Cross Country, Trustaff, ARMStaffing, Nomad....they all seemed good!

Howdy travelnurse PA, have you traveled before?

A. Introduction :Howdy travelnurse PA, have you traveled before? (If not are you OK with having 4-8 hours of orientation maybe a shift and be able to hit the ground running? Are you very well versed at the various electronic medical records or confident you can learn them quickly) if yes please see the next barrier you may be facing

B. Supply and demand :New york dropped the licensure requirement allowing all 50 united states licensed nurses to apply, so agencies can just filter out which applications they see by having software filter out nurses who have worked under a year (recruiters make money off the contract so they want the nurse with the most in demand skills so that candidate gets picked and they get paid)

C. Skills you definitely have them with your background there are many ways you can help in this COVID crisis, there are still long term care contracts and hospice contracts and you can still be eligible for your standard premium (not crisis) travel rate, there are some Rehabs in a hospital setting so you can count that as hospital experience and travel experience for your next contract

Closing statement the retired and new grad nurses are being allowed opportunities they may not have had when the demand wasnt so dire. As an experienced nurse you have the assets to assist the community as you wish, you may not have the armour at this time to battle against the experienced ccu travel nurses applying from sea to shining sea

One could argue that your blatant judgmental disgust should be directed at the hospital executives and powers that be, rather than the nurses trying to help themselves make a living while also helping people.
