Cried (I mean BAWLED) all the way home from Memphis

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

:crying2: :crying2: I just got home from taking the NCLEX-PN. I did so badly it shut off at 85 questions. I am so very discouraged. I studied and studied for this thing and I worked my tail off in school. I worked my NCLEX review book and CD. I studied my textbook and notes. I learned my meds. I graduated with a 94 as valedictorian and today I feel like I would have had just as good a chance on that test if I had spent a year studying Greek mythology!! So much of that test was stuff we never, ever covered in school. My friends from school had never heard of some of the stuff that was on my test either. Is this common or did my instructors leave out some important stuff? I feel like I had to guess at 95% of the questions...and I bet I guessed poorly! How did any of you ever pass this thing? It was all I could do not to cry DURING the test. I feel like I've wasted the past year...and the bad thing is, I left a really great job to pursue my dream. Now I'm scared to death I'll never pass the NCLEX!! I don't know how I can improve my chances if I have to retake it...I don't think I can study any more than I did for this first one and that didn't work! Sorry for the vent but I think I need some encouragement from people that actually made it!!:scrying: :bluecry1: :crying2:

I was following your progress! I am incredibly happy for you!!! Now, lpnalmost...you need to go change your name to BrandNewLPN!!!! *L*

Congratulations to you!!!!

NCLEX works by giving you simpler questions when you miss one, so in essence, the more you miss, the more questions you will probably have.

I shut off at 85 (7 years ago when I took it) and passed it. I've always been told that that meant that I did really well on it. And I bawled all the way home too, I thought I had failed.

Just because it shut off at 85 doesn't mean you didn't pass. Mine shut off sooner that the others also. It all varies on the computer test they give you. Most questions can be answered by common sense. Our nursing instructor told us that out of all 4 questions 2 are always wrong the next 2 are close but only 1 is correct. to just take your time, relax, think and recall whatever knowledge you can think of to help you eliminate the wrong answers. I am sure you did fantastic. I think a lot of us felt that way after our exam. Relax, have a dpepsi, and get some sleep. Let us know when you get the results saying you have passed. Angelia

When I took my test it cut off at 89 questions... I felt that I didn't pass as when I got home I reviewed questions I had answered and found incorrect. Point is... 2 month later I got a card with the title LVN on it in my name.

I dont think anyone has come out of testing knowing for sure they passed.

Its been 5 years since I took my test and I look back on it today and realize a lot of my anxiety of me failing was the programming my instructors gave me when in school telling me it would be the hardest test I would ever take. Now I just laugh at how I let anxiety take control of me for 2 months while I waited out the results.

I AGREE 100%, I noticed that when I was given a question I didnt know the answer to, I was given a similar question later in the test which actually helped me to realize that my 2nd choice was the right answer (do to the fact that my 1st answer was now removed from the 2nd question)
