CPNRE JANUARY 2011 TEST TAKER/s

World Canada CRNE

Published

Hi AllNurses :nurse:. I will be writing the CPNRE on January 2011. My study materials are:

-Mosby's Canadian Comprehensive Review of Nursing 2nd Edition and

-The Canadian PN Exam Prep Guide 3rd Edition.

To all test takers for January 2011 (hoping that I am not the only one here), please join and we'll support each other to stay on track and keep on going. To all other members who passed the exam or knowledgeable about the CPNRE, please give some inputs. Badly needed. Thank you.

A prayer to all of us, "Lord God, our Saviour, we are asking for your guidance for the upcoming CPNRE. Help us to comprehend what we are studying and give us wisdom to pass the exam. Please Lord. In Jesus Name, Amen".

Will always keep you posted :)

I felt the EXACT same way as everyone...the exam was VERY tricky. After going over in my mind all I can remember are the wrong answers...and as you...most of them were very basic questions. It's like my mind shut off on the easy ones because my mind was trying to focus on the hard ones. I so hate tests that make you read the question and go "hmmmmm I wonder where they are trying to trick me?" instead of ..."oh..this is definately the answer". I concentrated more on the trick rather than the nursing part which upsets me. We should be tested on actual knowlege, skills and judgement....not on if we avoid being tricked. Ugh......just praying I passed. Good luck to everyone!

Don't despair!!!

I also was an over 90% average student and also left the exam when I took it (in Sept 08) going "HUH"????. I had no clue if I got 30% or 95%. I second guessed so many answers I chose. But I did pass :D and so did ALL of my classmates, inlcuding 3 who NEVER thought would pass as they just did not do well in school and I'm very surprised even passed our final exams and clinicals.

Best of luck!!! :nurse:

Congrats! For me, all I can say this is going to be the longest 4 to 6 weeks ever!

I have a difficult decision. I work in a LTC unit as a PSW and was offered to move to PN status if I get my temp license. With the test results coming in within 3 weeks, I am trying to decide to wait it out for the test results or to go ahead and apply for the temp license. My work is leaving that up to me. I really don't know what to decide, if i fail the test, is it worth it to pay for the temp license if I will only use it for 2 weeks or so.

If you'll earn way more than the expense from getting the temp. license and if it's an easy process then I think it's ok. But if not that much then it's better to wait for the result to come out. 3 weeks, not that bad though it's killing me softly. May God bless us all.

Well I have already paid for my temp license and they said that once I am eligible for my general class I jut pay the extra 52$. So dear god If I fail this exam..rewrite in May..pass that one i would only owe the 52$ ..they said as long as you have your temp license within the same calendar year. So pay the 250.. even if you lose that temp license you have still paid towards your general class as long as you pass this year. I am officially on freak out I dread going to the mailbox now. I heard if you fail it comes as registered mail .. my friend who passed in Sept said it is a thin envelope if you pass.EEK!! Good luck everyone..that WAS a hard exam!

Jasmine:

I too dread going to the mailbox to find out. I heard a small envelope is good news, and a large one is bad news. I feels like forever waiting for the results, I am so stressed out my BP has been high. It was a very hard exam, god bless all that wrote it.

Oh geee, so by the envelope itself, you'll know if you pass or not...that's scary! And now, I'm nervous :(

The most important thing was that we did our best and we will just leave the rest to God and ask Him to please give us strength to help us to be prepared for whatever the result might be.

Again, Good Luck to all of us. Please keep us posted with your result.

I agree, I am praying I pass. I just wish that they graded the exam a little faster. Everyone that wrote is in my prayers for a pass :)

I to wrote it in January and found it "off course". My school had a comprehensive exam that they clamied "mock" the CPNRE and if you passed the comprehensive exam you will most def pass the CPNRE............maybe I was in a comatose state cause the school comprehensive exam WAS NOTHING compared to the CPNRE. I studied my saunders book inside and out and decided what was necessary glad I did that cause I looked back at the unecessary and none of the material was on the exam. Speaking from someone who did well on the AST test, school exam and studied her saunders book inside and out in all honest to any rpn that will be writing it in the upcoming months. I believe that nothing could of prepared me for this exam no prep book no mosby no saunders or any other prep book. It all comes down to how well are you able to answer multiple choice questions. I prayed through out my study session that I will retain the information that I learned. I also prayed to god before the exam through out the exam at the end of the exam and everyday after the exam..lol. I believe we all did are best and gave it are best and if we have to write it again then we have to write it again.

Goodluck to everyone these next 2-3 weeks will be torture for me lol

I totally agree with you. My school stressed the importance of using the Canadian PN exam prep guide by assessment strategies. I also used the asi online prep tests that told me I had a 90-95 percent chance of passing the exam. I also studied the style of questions to get use to the type of questions that would be asked. Whatever my weak areas were I looked up in nursing books and did additional reading on the subject matter. My school also had their own versions of mock exams to write to prepare for the CPNRE. I felt like none of these things really prepared me for the exam. I feel really let down because the exam wasn't as straight forward as the questions that we were told to prep with. Also, I felt some of the questions were very ambiguous. This waiting period for results is torture.

I agree. Don't get me wrong you need to some theory for some of the questions, but most of them no. What scares me the most is knowing which I got wrong, and that possible be the deciding factor of a pass or a fail :barf02: that alone prevents me from sleeping. I'll be leaving for a cruise this Saturday and returning next week Sunday(not this Sunday coming) making it the 5th week ie results could possible be mailed out :scrying:
