CPNRE JANUARY 2011 TEST TAKER/s

World Canada CRNE

Published

Hi AllNurses :nurse:. I will be writing the CPNRE on January 2011. My study materials are:

-Mosby's Canadian Comprehensive Review of Nursing 2nd Edition and

-The Canadian PN Exam Prep Guide 3rd Edition.

To all test takers for January 2011 (hoping that I am not the only one here), please join and we'll support each other to stay on track and keep on going. To all other members who passed the exam or knowledgeable about the CPNRE, please give some inputs. Badly needed. Thank you.

A prayer to all of us, "Lord God, our Saviour, we are asking for your guidance for the upcoming CPNRE. Help us to comprehend what we are studying and give us wisdom to pass the exam. Please Lord. In Jesus Name, Amen".

Will always keep you posted :)

While applying for jobs they require medication administration certificate and physical assessment certificate. Can anyone let me know who offers these courses and how important it is to take these courses.

Hey mysterious!

Books: I just read the books Mosby's and the Prep Guide (check complete title on the first page of this thread).

Tips: Answer many questions as you can. At least 100 questions per day. Be careful on what the question is asking you. When you get the mosby's book (orange one), there's a part there about test taking strategies. Read that. It's very important and it helped me A LOT. I found the Prep Guide helpful too. Although I've read some comments that it didn't help them at all. For me it did help me in some ways, like, I got the idea about what the real exam would be like. It won't hurt you at all if you read it.

Exam: January 2011 exam was tricky. There were 2 books and each book contained 135 questions (if i remember it right) You are allowed to go to washroom anytime. But be quick! So you have time to read each question carefully and not in a hurry because you're running out of time. Manage your time and read the question at least twice and not just once (cuz you might missed some good keywords). Eat GOOD breakfast and lunch (Don't skip lunch. You need it to fuel your brain). Drink water as well.

I wish you all the best and good luck! May God bless you.

It's up to you if you want to go to a prep course or not to prepare. If you are not writing until September, why don't you pay to take the online predictor test from asitest, and see how you do. If it says you need a lot of work to be ready, you can decide if you want to pay to take a prep course, or whether you'd rather prepare on your own.

I did not use a prep course. I used the prep guide, Mosby's Comprehensive Review of Canadian Nursing, and Potter & Perry.

Everyone is different - some people find that reviewing information and making notes of important concepts helps them, while others find that simply doing lots of practice questions with rationales helps them.

Everyone is different with their studying habits. I flew through school with flying colours and studied for 2 weeks for the exam and studied a borrowed prep guide. If this was me 10 years ago.. it probably would have been a different story. The exam did throw me for a loop though I found the exam similar to the guide only in format.. the rest..fuggedaboutit. And I believe the September exam is a new one compared to this past January and May. I could be wrong. All i did when reading the questions was tell myself.. think logically.. the answer is staring you in the face.Good luck!

hi ,anyone knows where is the best review center for rpn 'Im planning to write this sept'thanks

I'm a US trained LPN and have just recently moved to Alberta.

I will be writing the CPNRE in May. I've been reviewing the prep guide and will also review using my US NCLEX review books.

Good luck!

Julie, step away from the nclex guide. CPNRE is a different exam. Our drug names differ. Our lab values are in metric not imperial. For lack of a better description the exam is kinda "touchy, feely", very psycho-social in a lot of areas dealing with the PNs reaction and action plan.

Your years of working in the US means you know the job. I'd concentrate on learning the Canadian ways in your case. Know the lab values, blood glucose norms, what our names are for drugs.

Good luck, it really isn't that difficult.
