Just to let you know, I go to Kaylim and they do not "teach you how to pass an EC exam." Lunah is incorrect.

I stand corrected! But do they teach according to the EC curriculum, or not? That's what DLS does, from what I've heard from students who used their services. Kaylim sounds similar from their description.

All the instructors that I have had there have there own notes and material. My micro teacher was beyond intelligent. She was scary smart. They all use various books and notes. She has been a nurse for 18 years and is one of the 3 nursing instructors there. They all have done some teaching. I do not believe they have EC material. It is a large college class condensed. I do not have the time fopr a traditional college and EC was the best for me. I have to work to support a family and have been in public safety for 20 years. I don't have total time or discipline to self study and Kaylim helps to push me to study. Thanks GOD I have passed all my exams. Everyone has their own opinion. I kow from sitting in her classes every wednesday that she is intelligent and she has helped me bridge the gap from flight medic/ firefighter-paramedic to the "nursing side" There is a big difference. All help is a blessing, but from someone who knows her and Kaylim, they have helped me...

How do they teach the CPNE workshop without the EC study guide, though? It seems like it would be difficult to have a good workshop without knowing what EC defines as the critical elements. Sure, nursing is nursing, but the CPNE is so particular.

I'm glad to hear it's been good for you ... yours is the first positive comment I've heard with regards to Kaylim. They sound like great instructors -- like I said, very educated.

there are hundreds of students at Kaylim and most are passing the exams. (if they apply themsleves to studying.) As far as the CPNE workshop, I have not taken it yet. I am only seeing what is on here as far as comments. When I go to classes there, I see alot more people taking the workshop than what are commenting on here. I will ask at my next class how many people have asked for their money back and let you know. If it is a bad workshop, then people need to be told so. Being in the same building, next to the classroom where it is held, I have not heard negative things until I logged on here today. I will find out some things and let everyone know. But, I will defend the instructor...She is a very educated and is an excellent instructor....

FYI- I edited the title of the thread (as well as several posts) and removed the instructor's name. If I could ask you all to refrain from posting her name for the sake of privacy, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

let me post here... the question is not can this person in question teach direct or whatever the student to pass the ec exams ..sure i took then with minimal study pass them...bam bam bam done.... my concern here is . why is this woman having workshops for the cpne when she has never taken it herself. that is a money making deal ....this is a situation that you cannot teach someone this or adequately direct them if you have not been in their shoes....

I'm sorry you felt I was maligning your instructor -- that was NOT my intention; just another reminder that the internet is an imperfect communication medium. ;) She sounds wonderful, from her qualifications and experience. But going back to my original thought -- I'm just wondering how someone who hasn't been through the CPNE can really teach about it. And that other post that said some things are taught incorrectly -- that worries me, because anyone who has been to the CPNE or studied it 24/7 for months can tell you how particular EC is, and that things MUST be done a certain way, or it means failure. Please do let us know how the workshop is, when you do take it, and how closely it follows the EC CPNE study guide in all its 502 pages of glory. :D

About teaching to pass EC exams--you know what Lunah is saying. You have to understand the material to pass the EC exams. I assume Kaylim is teaching so you understand the material (I hope!), In turn you learn material to pass the EC exams, which is the ultimate goal, right?

Thank you -- you did a better job explaining what I was saying than I did in saying it in the first place! LOL!! If I had meant it like the other person construed it, I would have said that they "JUST" taught students to pass EC exams. Sorry for any confusion or upset I might have caused. It was poorly worded on my part.

As the OP of this thread, I would love to hear from someone who has taken the CPNE prep and then taken the CPNE.

Hi. I am checking into Kaylim Career Institute for lpn to adn.

Can you tell me your opinion, experience? Also, I graduated from college lpn about 20 years ago!

We had a different curriculum and although I had a 3.72 I didn't receive credits.

Any info you can offer will be great! I'm in South Carolina. thanks

I just took the cpneworkshop.com workshop and I really feel like it gave me a good place to start in my studying for the cpne, I am also thankful for the detailed explanation of the paperwork and care plans required because my friend just failed the cpne for care plans. I can't imagine doing an entire PCS and failing the care plan!
