Oh no....what happened? I know you don't feel up to talking right now, and I know it feels impossible to do, but hang in there, and don't give up! I've heard of other people on here that have taken it twice and passed second time around so don't worry! Look at it as a clinical experience you can learn from. Coming from someone who knows what it's like to fail (not the CPNE, but previous nursing school, and first time taking the boards) I am here if you need someone to talk to. Just message me :)

Don't worry, you will get it next time. I know it's disappointing but when you are ready write about it for the therapeutic benefits to yourself and then get back on the horse. Read what you wrote and understand what you missed and prepare so next time you will no doubt pass.

~Best Wishes and hugs and giggles from my 7month old ~

ETA: Others have shared their cpne journal on here so I'm pretty sure it's okay as long as names and identifying information are removed. I am definitely interested in hearing about it.

Yes, you're right :)

I failed my first time around also, I was so devastated and embarassed. Everybody at work knew I was going and was asking questions. I didnt even tell anyone there I failed. I met a nurse there who had previously failed her CPNE, we were staying at the same hotel. She came to my room and talked to me, I listened to her, went home and studied and passed 4 months later. No repeats, I was out by 10:00 am on Sunday. I talked to others that day who failed, and tried to give them encouragement, like I was giving on the day I failed. You never know who you will meet at the CPNE, but I will never forget those who encouraged me. You will go on to pass, Why ? because this is Allnurses, and we help each other here. If you ever need something, dont hesitate to IM me.

You all are great here. My husband and family are supportive also which is great but I really felt like such a failure. I know this stuff like crazy! I dream about it!! But my bad point is careplans.not so good and that is what failed me once and the other was I failed to document that I checked the skin under nasal cannula tubing. I did it and skin was intact but I didn't chart it.....felt so stupid.I've went thru all my greiving processews today lol....and I now accept it....don't like it but I accept it. I met some awesome people today and I know one passed but unsure of the others. I wish I would have got their numbers or emails or something. They were wonderful people and I hope they all did well. I told 2 of my friends that are in the program about my eperience and they both said they wanted to quit...but I told them how doable it really was and encouraged them to keep going. We just needto study together and work on careplan stuff . We can do it. I'm not going to quit. Don't know where I'll get the money but I'm not wasting what I put in to this when I want to make my goal of being an rn!

So sorry to hear this but you will get it the next time - as nurses we get knocked down all the time but we are pros at getting up and going at it again!! I have heard that Sheri Taylors online careplan workshop is great if that is your weakness. I don't know this firsthand just what I have read on allnurses from others and I plan on taking it myself since careplans are my weakness. So glad you have supportive husband and family and just remember we are all behind you!!!!! :redpinkhe

I feel so bad for you also. I am terrified of CPNE!!! I think you are handling this well and thats important. You Will nail this next time!!!:) The good part is you know what to expect so that will make it better too... Curious did you attend a CPNE workshop?

i went to lynn fredrick's workshop in north carolina. she is great. i learned a lot there. i just need more studying in the careplan area i guess.
