Well I passed the first time with no repeats, this past December. LOL, I even got an "Uh oh, watch out, she just zoomed through" from the CA. I did not go to any workshops. My advice would be to first LEAVE YOU WAY AT THE DOOR, then either buy the skill kit from EC or get your own supplies from online companies. Get Rob's DVD (I only got the AOC), watch it all the way through twice without stopping, then go back thourgh each AOC one at a time, refer to the CPNE study guide for anything he may be doing or saying incorrectly, then tweak his mnemonics for you, and put the ion flashcards. His DVD and eBook do have errors but honestly I think it is better that way, because it will force your to go back to the study guide for reference, which is important because the EC way is the way to pass, not just being a puppet of someone else.

For the labs, I didn't use mnemonics. Just use the study guide, and free online resources, and practice with the forms in the study guide. For the wound I recommend, doing the parachute, and bunching it up molding it to basic shape of the wound, placing it in the wound, and moving it outward to fill the wound. You should be able to find a video of that online. I find it to be the easiest, quickest, and safest ways to effectively pack the wound without contamination.

As for documentation, first make sure you fully understand what the 20 minute checks are, make a grid, highlight each item before and after whatever it is. This forces you to make a chech mark when you DO something, and also when you DOCUMENT it. And just be sure to write you narrative notes like a script. I mean everything you said and did, everything the patient said and did in response, nothing is really too small. This is because you may find something unessential that the CE thinks was important, and bam that's a fail. But you can't fail for over documentation. Oh, and also be sure to document in pencil. I was an erasing re-writing fool.

OK Dreamnurse, can you inbox me? I have many more questions for you. And thanks for the information, it is greatly appreciated.

:)

People passed the CPNE before anyone got the idea to hold workshops. Rob's DVDs are a good investment to give you a feel for what you should be doing.

Hi excellent question...Dreamnurse did you study with anyone?

No, I really never got studying with anyone. My life is to hectic to schedule things, so it was just me, and the lab on my dining room table.
