My application was accepted today. I called npec with a question and then offered a date. I took August 19th-21st in Utica, NY!!! There was a mid july timeslot offered I think in Albany. To many people get off in July where I work, so I didn't think that was a good idea. SO ecxcited yet very nervous at the same time, Now I got to schedule the workshop with Chancellors. I can't believe it!!! My emotions go to:yeah:then also !!!!!
Well I am glad I now know there is an opening on my weekend. One of my local friends just became CPNE eligible and I am going to have her call Monday morning so we can fly out/room and test together. I hope that date is still available!
I will be bugging you to tell me all about Syracuse when you get back and I am leaving just about the next weekend. I booked at the Gennessee Grande Hotel, the EC rate per night is $109 and the rate at the Parkview is $99 per night, but per the lady on the phone the GG hotel has a restaurant and is a bit newer and closer to the hospital.
Beachnurse, just something to think about ... if her weekend goes badly and yours does not, will you get sucked into negativity that might adversely affect how you perform? I've seen it happen a few times over the years. If this is someone you feel you can test with regardless of how it goes for either of you, then great. I'd just hate for someone to have a bad outcome because someone else did. For my CPNE, I had to go alone, and keep to myself -- just what was best for me! :)
Honestly, I've never heard anything negative that I can recall about any of the NY sites. Congrats on getting your date!!! :) :) :)
Lunah, would it be appropriate for me to ask you what you have heard about the WI sites? I saw one weekend in Racine that only 1/6 passed. It seems as though the successful posts have been far outweighing the unsuccessful on the EPN recently. I know that we really can't get a clear idea because perhaps those that didn't pass may not post at all, but I sure do seem to recall more fails earlier this year. I need to make my decision this weekend, as my CPNE app is going in next week and I am trying to decide if I should put down Northern & Midwest or just stick with Midwest.
It's funny ... when I first started reading the EPN in 2007, Plano was the EVIL SITE OMG DO NOT GO THERE! Haha. Everything in Wisconsin was golden. Then things changed over time, and it's been somewhat amusing to me to watch the trends. I think it has to do with people being very verbal about dissatisfaction with sites, and others buying into it. Odds are with so many people testing at all the sites each weekend, there will eventually be a REALLY BAD WEEKEND at one site or another.
I firmly believe it's about the student, not the site. People can disagree with me, and that's fine. Yes, our evaluators are human, but I don't believe they're monsters.
Also, you can only pick one region, not two. Can't do NPAC and MPAC; gotta go with one or the other. I recommend NPAC if you want a speedier date! :)
Good luck to you! I just posted to you on another thread too. My head was spinning when I got a CPNE date two days later, LOL!!
Now you know your date, and you can practice an prepare!!
As I posted in my other messages, I tested at Utica in May. Nice facility, CA's and CI's were real nice. Be prepared, show you are organized, and you can surely do it!
k3104, I am so nervous about cpne! So much material to know, it makes our LS theory tests look like a piece of cake next to this. You liked Utica? I heard many good things about it. What was harder for you ,the pcs or the lab? Just wondering.. TY!PS -What part of utica was did you like most?

congratulations on your test date! i am scheduled 11-18-11 in mansfield. i really want to do a workshop at some point before i take the cpne and i would love to hear what happens with chancellors...i actually live here in indiana about 20 minutes outside of indianapolis so if it's a good workshop i will most likely go! good luck!!
Anjule, I did not see any of Utica, other than the dunkin donuts, Walmart, and applebees!! I was by myself, and wasn't about to go do a tour of the Saranac brewery by myself, LOL, or the casino!!
The hardest thing was the first lab on the first day, I was getting so nerved up. The CE was so nice, she told me to relax and start when I was ready. Be careful of your time on the IV push station, I came awful close. Thankfully I only had to push 1ml over 1 minute. I think if it was a 5 minute push I would have been in trouble.
as far as the PCS, nothing extremely difficult was assigned to me, had to keep those nerves in check and use my grid mneumonic to make sure I did / and charted everything!! Tried to just take my time, check or highlight my sheet AND my grid that everything was complete. Double check yourself, stay organized and the CE's were very good. They did look truly happy for me when I was done.
Good luck
