I was wondering if you have any additional home self care help for a cough.
Here's basically what we say:
Increase fluids, steamy shower trick, mucinex, cool mist vaporizer, warm apple juice for coughing spasms, hard candy....
any more tips you can share? (doesn't have to be coughing....we have a wealth of health tips between us...let's share)
Thanks!

Where I work, we have approved sources of information that we use. We primarily use the Healthwise Knowledge Base. Do you have approved sources? We are basically tied to the information supplied in this resource. Our quality reviewers are very picky about that.

Yes, we have protocols that come up on our computers. But we can give any extra helps as long as it does no harm.
Always looking.
Think my place is a little more lenient. Sorry.

I have to follow Barton Schmitt. Even if we have extra advice that may be helpful, we can't give it. As for your question, I don't really have any other advice other than dextromethorphan if they are over age 1 and the cough is keeping them up at night.

We also have - sleeping propped up, more pillows etc or books or blocks to raise the head of the bed or cot - helps prevent that tickling niggly cough.... sorry for responding so late!

Vicks Vapo Rub- the smell makes a tingling sensation that overpowers that tickling in your throat that makes you cough. Rub it on your chest, or a piece of fabric you can keep next to your face while sleeping.

Well I had a cough that was hard to get rid of ..I had an upper respiratory infection. I am not asthmatic but discovered that I did have a type of bronchospasm triggered by my respiratory infection and flovent really helped
My cough did not go away till I used the flovent.
I did all the usual stuff you mentioned previously but nothing helped the cough until the flovent.
Maybe not a common thing but in my case wow what a difference

Having the person do some deep breathing before coughing can sometimes increase its effectiveness.
