Cost of Part time LVN/LPN SCHOOL

Published

Do you think $28,000 for a part time 18 months course is worth it?

Specializes in Allergy/Immunology.

Where are you? I thought mine at $18,000 was expensive and it's 2 years part time.

Specializes in Critical Care, Med-Surg, Psych, Geri, LTC, Tele,.

I think it depends on a few different factors. (not in order) 1: the pay rate for new grad lvns/ lpns in your area 2: are there jobs for new grads in your area? 3) how much you can get covered by grants 4) cab you afford the loan payment amounts on money you will need to borrow?

I live in northern California, where nurses are paid well-- if they can find work. LVN schools cost 20-30 or even 40 thousand dollars. Community college is nearly free-- maybe 2 thousand dollars for the whole program, but it may take a few years to get in and then the program is 1 1/2 yrs long.

My lvn school costs 23k and is full time 1 year. I'm taking out loans for about half. This will work well for me. I feel so blessed to be getting grants for the rest.

is it less to do full time I would think? If so try to make that happen because 28k for a LPN education is VERY high. I paid 20k for 12 months which is IMO also very high and I did not qualify for anything due to my parents income. You have to think about re payment. My min payment is $200/mo which isnt horrible on a LPN salary but I have to pay well over that a month to even make a dent. Like PP said it also matters where you live. I live in OH and the gen wage is in LTC starting out is $18 to $19/hour.

I'm paying around $12,000 total for a part time 18 month program. Are there any less expensive programs in your area?

I'm in Northern California, and my full-time 18 month (we're off for the winter holidays, spring break and summer) LVN program cost $6000. The part-time 24 month program at my school is the same price. Personally, I don't think I would've chosen a more expensive school, as I am planning to bridge to RN after graduation, and I need to consider the costs of yet another nursing program.

no that is way too much for just a LPN my mom is RN with a BSN and that's how much she paid for here nursing degree plz try to find something cheaper cause if u plan to go further in ur career u'll have less fasfa in your account i how this help:up:

Sounds WAY too high. Two schools nearby are 5500 and 6500 appx, both full time and part time.

Good luck anyway, whatever you decide.

I hope you find a cheaper program. I'm in PA, but, my pt 18 mo program is $10,900.

My program is 3K and no its not a typo. My classes are Mon. Tues. Weds. and the program is 18 Months, with a month off in the Summer, a week off @ Thanksgiving, and 2 weeks off for Christmas. If you want the cheapest accredited program program, look into the county Adult education or Regional Occupation programs. Look on your states' board LVN/Psyck teck web site. Did I mention that it also has the IV class included too?

I'm in Central CA.. CountyROP and Adult Ed means no debt. They also have higher pass rates.

Hi there! I am currently in the Metrotech 1 + 1 LPN to RN bridge nursing program in Oklahoma City and my total tuition is a little under $6000 for 15 months, Monday through Friday with 2 days of those 5 being at clinicals. I thought my tuition was high at $6000 and I've read some of these posts saying that theirs are in the $20 to $30,000 range, and i must say, whew! Metrotech is a vocational school, so I'm not sure if that makes a difference. I feel for all of you who have to pay so much! :( On a brighter note though, I just finished up my first round of clinicals at an Acute Long-Term Rehabilitation Center and I loved it! My next clinical is at a hospital for Wound Care and Day Surgery, which I am so excited for!!! For those of you who have not started or have just started, you are going to have so much fun! It is very hard though, I'm not going to lie but as long as you put your mind to it and you have the discipline, you will succeed and go far. Good luck to you all and I wish you the very very best! :-)
