Hello, I just submitted my app for COS. I thought I'd start a thread for those applying to the spring 2018 program. I'm curious to know everyone's GPA/TEAS score/extra criteria/point total. Good luck everyone! The program will begin before we know it!

Hello! I applied for the LVN to RN bridge program with 69 points. I have no degree, but I'm a LVN with years of work experience. I had a 4.0 GPA with all prerequisite science courses and no Ws. I scored a 72% on the TEAS (horrible test taker). Points for special life circumstance. I don't speak another language and have never attended COS before. I'm hoping/praying/wishing I get in to the 2018 program. Good luck! Guess we'll be hearing in October!

Those are great Stats, I'm sure you'll get in with flying colors!! I applied with 68 points. 4.0 science gpa, no repeats. 78 on my TEAS, life circumstance, fluent in spanish, & hospital experience. No degree, no courses taken at COS. I'm praying I get in as well. I'm also taking a biomedical stats class at National University in case COS doesn't work out. GOOD LUCK!!! I'll check back in October (:

Thanks so much! Maybe we'll both get in! I read some old posts with people getting in at even 58 or 62 points. Those posts were from 2014 or 2015 though. Seems like the competition grows more fierce every year. I hear that it's harder for people to get in to the general RN program, but not quite sure. There are a lot of LVNs I know who are just as hungry as I am, but I'm hopeful because many haven't finished their pre-reqs yet. Getting in to these science classes is a battle!

Hello, I turned in my application packet today. I'm so anxious now, I calculated a total of 74 points. I got a 78% on the TEAS, I also have an associates degree, have completed 18 units at COS, have health experience and life experience points, as well as second language points. I'm a bit scared because I have a feeling spring semester application period is more competitive compared to fall application period. At least that's my theory. I believe that COS is the only community college around here that has a spring semester start. The only other options would be SJVC, Fresno City, or Fresno State. I think we all have a really good chance of getting in. Do any of you know if LVN-RN applicants have priority? Thank you and have a great day.

Great job on your stats! I will also be applying to Fresno City College (application period starts in Sept). I, too, think we have a good chance of getting in. I'm not really sure if LVN-RN applicants have priority... I think we all have an equal chance because of the point system- They look at each applicant as a whole rather than who applied first, who has more experience than the other, or who has a better GPA. I believe the people with the highest number of points will be the ones for consideration for an interview.

Does anyone know how many seats there are for the bridge program?

I too have applied for the Spring 18 program. I have 73 points. I have a gpa of 3.67 (that one B in Anatomy is gonna haunt me), I got a 89.3 on the TEAS, certified healthcare worker (no recent experience due to taking care of a sick child), special life experience and completed 18 units at COS. Good luck to everyone and here's to waiting till October!

DMartin3 Good luck, those are also great stats! I too have heard that people with 55ish points and above have got into past cohorts, but we shall see. Did you apply for the traditional RN or LVN-RN? I wanna say that RN & LVN-RN programs have separate cohorts. I'm not certain though.

Those are great STATS! & great Teas score!! Late Oct/early Sept cannot come soon enough! Will you applying to Fresno City as well?

glamnurse2b thank you! I really hope it's enough. I applied to traditional. I'm not to sure about lvn-RN having separate cohorts. I was under the impression that a specific number of seats was reserved for them and if not filled then they would give them to traditional RN program applicants, but I might be wrong.

Yes I will be applying to Fresno City as a back up plan. I live in Visalia so I prefer COS because it's closer but I wouldn't be objected to attend FCC.

That's understandable. I'm from Fresno, so FCC is my preference. But if I get into COS, I'd have no complaints. Beggars can't be choosers! The Fresno City app was supposed to be posted but it looks like they have not posted the link yet....
