Top U.S. health officials testified to Congress about the virus. New York added California and seven other states to its quarantine list. The European Union is set to reopen its borders but plans to bar travelers from the U.S., Brazil and Russia.

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo announced that visitors from an additional eight states — California, Georgia, Idaho, Iowa, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nevada and Tennessee — would need to quarantine for 14 days upon arrival in New York.

Dr. Anthony S. Fauci, the nation’s top infectious disease expert, warned Tuesday that the number of new infections in the United States could more than double to 100,000 a day if the country fails to contain the surge that is now underway in many states.

He noted that the recent sharp rise in cases, largely in the South and the West, “puts the entire country at risk.”

“Public confidence in vaccines is so important,” Dr. Hahn, the F.D.A. commissioner, said. “We have an obligation to use all of our scientific knowledge, regulatory framework to ensure that any vaccine that comes before us, whether for authorization or approval, meets our stringent standards for safety and effectiveness.”

Fauci is to infectious disease what Michael Brown was to FEMA. I'm all aboard the Fire Fauci movement. It was his job to get rid of this Coronavirus and he failed. Not "young people", not Trump, not even the hospital workers doing whatever they can to keep COVID-positive victims alive. Why have we the taxpayers been keeping him on this plum position when he can't do what he is supposed to do? He's been in his spot for like 35 years. What infectious diseases did he get rid of? He needs to retire or be forced out already because he failed.
