Hi all,

I have been a nurse since May 08. No one at my facility where I work ever really mentions CEU's. I see that they offer a credit here and there for some lectures/classes, but other than that I don't hear about it. I know it is state regulated and mandatory. I have no CEU's as of yet...well maybe a few but I have not kept track.

My license expires Oct 2010. I have found some online stuff but don't know if it is accredited. The PA website is not clear on what is and is not acceptable.

My question is.....what can you tell me about CEU's and have you found a reliable site online to get them?

thanks

Parrot, your "about me" says you are still a student... don't you want to give yourself an upgrade?

this is not helpful to the op, but i found it funny anyway. :lol2:

op: i do not know about pa specifically. however i have a license in a state that requires ceus too. i have found that reliable resources are posted on nursing association websites like the ana. try linking up to the ana within the state of pa for reliable ceus. gl!

if you are licensed in PA, go here http://www.portal.state.pa.us/portal/server.pt/gateway/PTARGS_0_159698_742027_0_0_18/FAQ%20RNce.pdf this has all the information and what is approved. Hope this helps

Check with your hospital Educator. That department may have resources. In Texas CNE is defined in the Nurse Practice Act. Basically it cannot qualify if the topic is basic info that would have been taught in nursing school. CPR is not covered. Only certain accreditation bodies are approved by T-BON.

You can also check with ANCC (thru ANA at www.nursingworld.org) to find approved providers of CNE in your area. ACLS and PALS are acceptable, although not the renewals in my state unless a large portion of the content is changed. There are sites online that offer CNE for monthly fees. Hope this helps.

I have just the site for you....Medscape. It's great! You can print out certain CEU's & it also keeps track of how many you complete as well as how it is accredited...best part it's FREE & keeps you informed of recent studies etc.
