Continental Travel Nurse anyone?

Published

Hello all,

I'm curious if anyone has recently gone through the process with Continental Travel Nurses out of London and taken contracts with them in the UK? I've been in contact with them and have started the process myself. I was hoping to hear some input about the company and their legitimacy. (My dad was concerned this was a company out to get young, naive girls.) So in addition to calming my dad's nerves, I was hoping to hear some tips, recommendations, etc from some nurses who have experienced CTN and the UK. Any information is welcome!

Thank you and happy nursing!

Hey, I know two Aussie nurses that used them for 2 years as their employer (ending early this year). They had no major complaints. Worked in both Oxford and London hospitals. Lots of time for travel if you wanted to take some breaks in between contracts (not sure where you are from). Your dad is wrong- they are one of the legit ones. Hope this helps!

Hi Gen!

I am glad to know that from you.

Previous negative comments makes me anxious but because of your kind info I feel much better now.

thanks a lot!!!

I've worked for them for the past three years, have just gone staff at the unit I spent most of that time at. They're very helpful in getting people over; once you're here they can be a bit tricky to deal with, but they're definitely legitimate.

Hi! Interested to know more about CTN. How is the pay? And after a short-term employ, do you automatically get another job offer after that? Or do you need to put yourself out there again? Or does the agency do that for you? Thanks.

Pay is a big step down from most places in the US, but about on par with what UK nurses make (especially when you factor in the housing subsidy or stipend that CTN provides). Most people work three-month contracts, although I've heard of longer ones and worked some shorter ones when it fit my schedule. As long as you're happy to stay on and the floor still likes/needs you, you'll generally get an offer to extend at the end of a contract. Otherwise Continental will negotiate you a new place to work.

Are there Filipinos here who are scheduled in May-June 2015 deployment.? :)

Hey jaysfordays!:) I saw your post on the other CTN thread. I got excited that you mentioned St. Thomas Hospital, I'm gonna be assigned there too.:)

One question you asked was if anyone from the Philippines has been deployed there(not sure if you already got this answered). According to my contact at IPAMS, this is the first time they're deploying Filipino nurses there. Wooo! Estimated 40 of us.:)

That sounds great! but I am still not sure where I'm gonna be deployed. The recruiter just mentioned that there is a possibility, based from my experience, that I will be assigned in that Hospital. Have you received your decision letter already? Are you under the old or new scheme?

Oh. I thought it was already final.:)

Anyway, yeah. The NMC released my decision during the first week of March. I'm under the old scheme. What about you?:)

Sooo..no visa appearance yet.?

I see. I'm under the new scheme and I'm still processing the papers needed to be sent in UK. Well I am hoping for a central London deployment. I don't wanna be assigned in areas outside London that's why when the recruiter mentioned St. Thomas Hospital, I immediately signed the conditional job offer. haha

Oh. Darn. I kinda got excited that I found someone that I thought would also be deployed this May. Haha

Well, I hope they send you to Central London then!:)I don't know if it's because the releasing of the old process' DLs are overlapping with the start of the new scheme but I have a friend who finished uploading his documents last Feb. The NMC initially said it should only take 3 weeks for a decision to be issued, now it's up to 3 months from the time they receive ALL the documents. But that's the max, which is a lot shorter compared to the time I had to wait.:)

Just finish uploading and pray they send you to Central London!:) You'll be seeing Filipinos on CTN's FB page soon enough. You'll be able to get updates then!:)
