I was wondering should we spend more time on reviewing the content from review books or more time doing Nclex style questions? Lately I have been trying to do both but I foucus more on the Nclex questions because it is also a review, what has everyone else been doing? For those who have passed what did you do?

My view is that NCLEX is designed to test how you apply the knowledge you already have. It's about critical thinking and application. You have studied content throughout nursing school, now it's time to use your knowledge when tackling NCLEX questions. My advice would be to practice NCLEX style questions then review your answers. It is important to review WHY an answer is correct/incorrect. I would recommend Saunders as a good book/CD.
Good luck,
Tina:)

I definitely agree with Tina in all respects...........especially with Saunders. You should be doing 100 questions per day, and have completed at least 3000 to 4000 before the exam.................... :)

Spend more time on NCLEX style questions and critical thinking skills. When I took my test I felt like it wouldn't have helped at all to even have all my books in front of me, because it doesn't test on that kind of material. It tests on how you work through problems, like which patient do you see first and what diet it best for a certain kind of patient. So you need to know the basics but it isn't what you are really tested on. So if you know you are really lacking in mental health or something, then study your notes, but focus on the basics. For me I had a question on a disease I had never heard of before on the test... but I was still able to reason things out, and I am pretty sure I got it right. My study guide suggested Maslows to figure out priority and it HELPS! Good luck with your test!
