Contemplating on Vlog

I want to do a vlog just to share my journey and be a means of support. Has anyone been truly successful at vlogging while in the program? I know it will be difficult but Im thinkin' about finding a way to incorporate it into my busy life.

Define success ? Complete editing a video ? get X amount of subscribers ? Do you need support or just attention ? If you need support, your class mates would be the best source not faceless screen names online.

Idu do you really want the definition of success? I think that keeping vlog is a good reflection of myself and could possibly inspire others to keep moving forward. I wouldn't care if i had only 1 follower. Making an impact on a nontraditional student, would be great. I have met some wonderful ladies who will be starting the program with me. And we have already made plans for study groups.

Just be very careful not to over-share, because once it's out there, you can't take it back.

This. As a nurse, I would never, ever vlog about anything nursing related. Call it paranoid but you never know what might offend a viewer, who in turn could be a potential employer.

Not to mention how many co workers will know exactly what you're talking about when you talk about your work environment or a particularly hard day. This can result in a co worker who isn't too fond of you reporting you to the manager or don and call it hipaa even if no patient identifiers were used.

If you are going to vlog just be smart about it. Never name the school you are attending, never name any clinical sites, patients or their outcomes, never talk bad about students, instructors, or your preceptors at your clinical sites etc... I think most of those things are just common sense.

There have been many nursing students now successful nurses who vlog and gained some "success" by it. Nurse Mendoza, NurseNacole, ifitnurse, empowerrn, heyrona and many others that have successful channels.

Just be careful what you say and how you say it because like it was stated before you can't take it back once it's out there.

Absolutely! I totally agree and see all of your points. I want to be an inspiration to other but also keep tabs on my own development. I have struggled with deciding whether to make it private and keep it for my own personal development. I also am following many of the youtubers that was mentioned in this post. I think they offer awesome advice and I will be using some of that while in the program. I can't help but think that there is someone out there that feels they aren't smart enough to become a nurse and I want to inspire them to press forward on there dreams. I do not want to violate HIPAA nor make anyone uncomfortable, and I understand that even with pure intentions it could always go opposite. Thanks
