Hi,

You really have to think this one very carefully. If you like to deal with people, on daily basis. Feel that you had made a difference, I invite you to please start nursing. Please do not become a nurse for the money, believe me in the long run you would end up hating your job and become very lazy, lot's of errors. You can possibly also loose your license, Trust me you work very hard for this. Now for myself, I love nursing. I been in a Medical assistant for 16yrs prior, I am LPN, currently working on my RN. I was very stressed out during nursing school, here I go again!!!!! I guess it's been in my blood deep down inside since a babe, you know putting band aids on my dolls, pets. I have a 5yr with Autism, and great support system. My family, husband. What ever you decide, try working on your general educ class. In community college there's a couple of year waiting list, depends on where you live. Here in CALIFORNIA, try about 3-5 yrs. So paid for private school LVN, now for RN program. I feel it's a good investment for yourself and your family. Also I have learning disability, but THAT has not stopped me from obtaining my dream to become RN. Good luck, and if i can be any help please let me know. Truly L. TAN, LVN from CA:nurse:

Honestly, I had so much difficulty reading the full paragraph (eleven lines of text) that contained not a single punctuation mark or capitalization (and frequently not a complete word), that I stopped at line two.

Suggestion? Before considering nursing, please take some courses to improve your ability to communicate effectively. Your current minimal command of written English as well as basic grammar skills will completely hinder your ability to even be accepted into a nursing program. I'm not saying this to be mean but rather to prevent you from being very embarrassed initially. We can certainly use good nurses, but you cannot demonstrate skills like these and be taken seriously by nursing administration.

Once you are able to write effectively, you will have the opportunity to submit an application to a school that will actually be reviewed. If you submit anything resembling this, your application will likely be thrown out and you won't get in the door.

I too had a hard time with all the "text speak". That was a huge run on sentance.

I think RNsRWe made a good point.

Yes, a simple "gosh, I don't think that good writing skills are that important" would have sufficed.

Seriously to the OP,

See if you can shadow a RN for a day. That way you can see more what they do. I know you saw a lot as a STNA, but can't hurt to shadow a nurse a day or two in different specialties. Nursing school is a hard road to go. I love my job, but I didn't go into it for the money. I went in to nursing to help others. So please as one poster said reconsider if you are doing it for the money.

Thanks. I know that there is a certain way2 write it's just that im not the type2 consider the way that something is written unless neccessary. Thanks again being scolded will help me2 consider my writting more. P.S becoming a nurse is not really about the money its about becoming a midwife, i want2 be a midwife with a nursing background, and i would love being a midwife so much i would do this4 free if had2. I really like the idea of working with women and newborns. I know this is what i want its just that feeling that i have deep down.

Sorry, I didn't mean to "scold" you. Instead, wanted to mention what is going to be the difference between you succeeding and failing (and even getting into a program). As well as whether or not people will read what you wrote here on allnurses in the first place.

Keep in mind that you aren't looking to be a midwife "with a nursing background"; you cannot be a midwife unless you are a nurse first. A CNM (certified nurse midwife) requires additional education and certifications on top of being an RN.

Doulas do not require a nursing degree or license, but act in a VERY different role than a CNM. Investigate the differences and see if you really are interested in becoming a nurse, or a doula instead.

For what it's worth, once you realize the education and expenses required of a CNM, you might think twice about doing it for free! ;)

Not to be a smart ellic but i know the steps to becoming a midwife, i have been researching this 4 about a yr or more. I can either become a direct entry MW or a go to school 4 my bsn,and then go back to school 2more years 4my msn in midwifery i have already done my research and i don't want to be a doula. When i was talking about being a MW4 free i was talking about if some1 that needed my services and could'nt afford it i would do it 4 free, and also i know the difference in between CNM,a direct entry MW, and a doula. Im not trying2 be a know it all either. I just take it very offensively when some1 is trying2 treat me like i don't know anything, so if u can't share ur experience with me or answer my post then y bother, im sorry im not trying2 be mean.

I spelled everything correctly the only thing that was missing was punctuation marks. I'll remember2 keep everything just right, and in plain english so that every1 can understand my post.

Ok, fine. You sure didn't sound like you knew much about it from the sentence of yours that I quoted; that's what I responded to.

I'm still finding it too hard to read what you write, so therefore it's too hard to figure out what you know and don't know. As it's obviously my problem alone, I'll leave the thread to others who might be able to help you with whatever you are looking for.

Good luck with all that.
