This is my first post. I am considering LNC. Has anyone completed the Kaplan course? I need to make a decision today because registration closes at Kaplan today. Any advice or comments about LNC would be appreciated.

I'm registered for the Vickie Milazzo Institute in Atlanta in October 2006 and am also registered for the apprenticeship afterwards! I'm excited and nervous about a new career. Anyone else going besides me? Would be glad to hear from anyone. Thanks!!
Wishing you luck with the course. I know you'll do a fine job.

:caduceus: blessings ax433!! the apprenticeship afterwards is well worth it!! you will love the whole experience and be sure to network with the other CLNCs that are in your class! If you keep your enthusiasm and can focus it into a daily discipline you will go far!:yelclap:
I ordered the AALNC Beginner Pack last week and have been very impressed with the Intro to LNC CD-ROM that is included. It gives a very good overview of all aspects of the LNC career. Very informative. I started Module 1 of the online LNC course last night, and so far it looks great.
That is great!! I wish you great success :studyowl:and fulfillment!
Thanks!
I too am looking into LNC as a new career path. One concern I have in doing my research is the future of "certification" - as I research how to become educated as a legal nurse consultant, I notice that the "CLNC" which is received from the Vickie Milazzo institute is apparantly NOT recognized by the American Board of Nursing Specialties: "In compliance with ABNS standards and requirements, the American Legal Nurse Consultant Certification Board (ALNCCB) certifies legal nurse consultant professionals through the Legal Nurse Consultant Certified (LNCC) program."and... "LNCC is the only legal nurse consulting credential recognized by AALNC and accredited by ABNS."This info is from the American Association of Legal Nurse Consulting website.Do any of you have further info/opinion about this?I just worry about spending lots of money on the 6 day course, but then not have attained something that is recognized within the specialty nursing community. Any thoughts? From a first time poster ....

I highly recommend the Vickie Milazzo Institue course. Her CLNC is approved by the American Nurses Association as a viable certification and way to "practice nursing." The coursework is stimulating and challenging, the instructors fantastic and the books are great that you can purchase or are included in your tuition (according to which way you choose to pursue this course.)
Additionally, Vickie's course, you always have someone you can call on to help you and answer your myriad of questions on how to start up a Legal nurse consulting business.
Good lucK!!!

Please forgive me everyone. I am no longer sure that what I said about the ANA is true.
I've received the following information from a moderater on the site:
"The LNCC certification/online education by the AALNC is the only program approved by the American Board of Nursing Specialties (ABNS).
But, the ANA did come out this year and made a statement that the practice of legal nurse consulting was within the RN scope of practice."
My apologies everyone. but the Milazzo Institute is definitely a great place to learn Legal Nursing in my opinion.
Thanks and please forgive!

I wholeheartedly agree with Jenny. I was at the course with her in Atlanta and I can just say that all of the instructors at Vickie's course were amazing.
I did not have the money to do the VIP and I just want to reassure others who don't do the course that way.
I did not get my book until the morning the course started. I took many notes during the class, and I did study about three hours each night. If you do this, I think you would have great success in the course.
I also did not sign up for the two day apprenticeship, but I am considering taking the private 5 day apprenticeship. It is an option to do the apprenticeship later.
I was very pleased with the course and feel well prepared.
agree with jenny and 2boysmama. vickie's course is phenomenal. and, no, one needn't be vip to get the information necessary for the exam and then go forth and have a very successful career. thanks for pointing that out, 2boysmama. the 5 day apprenticeship course isexcellent, too.
i know both of ya'll are very excited and still on that mountain top from the course. don't let that excitement ebb. stay on top of your marketing plans. do at least three things every day to further your marketing endeavors.
oh, and be prepared to hear something the end of the week.
good luck!!!!!!!!! you are (as soon as you hear) successful clncs;)
