Confused. I need your help. :'(

Hi to Nurses all over the world!:nurse:

My name is Sam from Cebu, Philippines. I am planning to go to New Jersey next month and badly wants to take any nursing licensure exam that would qualify me to work as nurse. Can somebody help me on what to do first? I am reading some stuffs in different websites, somehow it helped me yet the major ideas made me confused.

I have various questions in my mind;

1.) What are the step by step process of applying for nclex in the state of New Jersey?

2.) Do I need to go through CGFNS process first before taking NCLEX?

3.) Do I need to take any English exams as well?

4.) What are the requirements or documents that I need to obtain from my school?

5.) How much will I pay for the exam?

Hope to hear from nurses the soonest. Thanks in advance ;)

The company that handles the NCLEX-RN licensing test in the U.S. is Pearson VUE.

I would recommend emailing them these questions to find out exactly what you need to do. Their website is - http://www.pearsonvue.com/. Good luck on your test.

Have you checked the New Jersey Board of Nursing website? That would be the place to start (if you haven't, already). There is no such thing as applying for the NCLEX by itself -- you apply for licensure in the state of your choice (in this, case, New Jersey), and that state authorizes you to write the exam if/when you have met all the other requirements of licensure. Pearson-Vue is just the company that actually administers the test for the state BONs.

Check the NJ BON website, and look for the section on applying for licensure by examination as a foreign-educated applicant. All the information and forms you need should be there. There is a link at the bottom of each page on this site that will take you to contact information for all the US BONs, or you can do an internet search to find the website.

Best wishes.

What is your work status in the US?

2.) do i need to go through cgfns process first before taking nclex? if the state requires ces from cgfns then you need to go through it

3.) do i need to take any english exams as well? again if the state requires it you have to do it

4.) what are the requirements or documents that i need to obtain from my school? again will be on their website or on the cgfns website and will in most cases be sent direct from them or at least in a sealed envelope by them

5.) how much will i pay for the exam? state bon will have their own fees as do cgfns. pearsonvue is also separate and also have an extra fee if you sit nclex outside the us

hope to hear from nurses the soonest. thanks in advance ;)

as mentioned what will be your status in the us and also expect the process to take approx 4-6 months before you can sit nclex and that is as long as you meet requirements
