Concordia College (NY) ABSN Fall 2010

Published

Anyone applying to Concordia's program in Bronxville, NY for the fall? Haven't seen a thread for it yet!

Sincerest thanks to annod81 and fjl1105!! I am sooo very glad you posted something POSITIVE about this program!! After reading the post from saveyourself, I was shell-shocked and horrified!! I interviewed with Dean Apold about a month ago, and she was so pleasant and esay to converse with, and I could not wait to start classes this fall!!...and then I read the forementioned post...needless to say, I believed it, but remained hopeful at the same time. I really appreciate the vast amount of info from the both of you...greatly appreciated!:)

Thanks for all the positive input! I sent my deposit. I heard they already got the accreditation its just a lot of paper work that needs to be done. I wouldnt be worried about it.

My deposit is going out tomorrow. I am excited about the program. If I decide not to start Concordia in theFall, (due to personal reasons), I will attend FDU in May. Their program is a bit quicker (12 months). Therefore, I will "lose" four months. Anyway, I hope to see you in the fall!

For all those waiting on Concordia's accreditation status, I emailed the Dean of Nursing. She said she will know by April 20th.. hope this helps

Was she confident or very matter of fact. I do not have that warm fuzzy feeling.

she was EXTREMELY confident!!! I could see her smiling through email.. lol.. that kinda got me excited too..

...now I'm excited too!!....Hope to see you all in the fall!

Just an FYI. Someone posted this on a different thread who isn't following this one...

"One more thing in reference to the discussion about Concordia.. Granted I don't know anything about the nursing program, but I did grow up in the area and I will tell you that the school is located in a really nice, well-to do area and there is actually a major hospital VERY close, in Bronxville, called Lawrence Hospital. There are also many other nice hospitals and other kinds of medical facilities in Westchester, and the clientele/payor mix can be ideal compared to the city.. If psych is your thing, there's also some nice private psych places.. Just throwing that out there since there was a concern about finding a job in the area..."

Any news on accreditation?

I'm still waiting. I'm going to call the school this afternoon and ask about their accreditation.. and also pay my deposit!!!! :yeah:

Please keep us posted, and GOOD LUCK!!

I called CCNE to check on accreditation. According to the person I spoke to, no official decision will be made until the Board meets at the end of this week. Furthermore, this information will not be made "public" until the following month. I am not sure as to why April 20th was given as the date to find out the decision. I am still nervous and would like to know either way.
