Anyone applying to Concordia's program in Bronxville, NY for the fall? Haven't seen a thread for it yet!
I am also looking forward to Concordia Interview for ABSN. Now I am really confused what to expect.. I have been waiting for this program since last year and was very excited. I am planning to relocate if get accepted. But Saveyourself I am really nervous about their NCLEX passing rate. Have you all tried to bring this issue up with Student Affairs? I think all current students need to talk to Dean over improvement of their curricullum.. Dont you think?
We have class reps and we do evaluations at the end of each semester. Our opinions are voiced however there hasn't been much of a change. I guess because the passing rate has been successful it doesnt really matter what we have to say. However speaking with previous grads who recently passed their boards, they have all said "JUST DO NCLEX 4000 QUESTIONS EVERYDAY" and that the majority of the stuff that appeard on NCLEX they through doing question everyday until it was time to take their exams.
I truly believe you Saveyourself and I really thank you for your feedback though. But my situation is, I am so exhausted being in the waiting list for a year at HBU. That is the only reason I would like to go ahead and start. i dont want to waste my time and energy waiting anymore. I know how much frustrating it could be when you have no clue what would be in the exam? I think it will get better over the time period. You may be right they are new to this program and thats why they are unorganized. Hopefully, change will come soon.
Do you know if we have to take out all loans? I was just interviewed, haven't heard back yet. Hoping to get accepted. Just wondering how people are paying their tution? Do they have any scholarships?
I went up there after I was accepted to check out the campus and had a chance to meet with financial aid at that time. The financial aid advisor said that there aren't any university scholarships for the program at this time, and advised me to look at outside scholarships. She said there may be scholarships available in a few more years since the program is new (but that probably won't help us much). So loans are pretty much what's left. With that being said, Concordia is the cheapest program I applied to lol.
Do you have any idea about housing? Are you planning to stay outside the campus? I have no idea about this city at all.
While I visited they showed me a dorm room and said that they put nursing students together. I was told they have their own floor... but I dunno how true that is. Talking with a student in the program, she told me that only 1 person in her cohort lived in housing because most students are able to commute. So i'm a little confused how it all works. However, it seems like more students may pursue housing this year. What they showed me was a traditional dorm room type set-up and there is a study lounge in the building. If I decide to attend Concordia, i'm definitely living in campus because it would just be much easier for me than having to secure an apartment before I get there...

yes programs are supposed to get better over the years however, i believe they are in over their heads. they havent perfected this absn and they got accredidation to start a fall 10 4yr bsn program, so now a lot of focus has been shifted from the absn program to get everything ready for the undergraduate program. bottom line they were trying to add all these fancy new techniques to the cirriculum prior to the accreditors coming last november, and once they left and the word was that theres a very high chance of the accredidation going through, all the preparations and fine tuning stopped. in no way do i want to come off as this angry student who hates this school because im not, im just letting you all know especially for those considering relocating for this program, that everything isnt what it seems when you come for your interview with whomever you met with.
