Anyone applying to Concordia's program in Bronxville, NY for the fall? Haven't seen a thread for it yet!
Greetings fellow classmates :) I am trying to sign up for the CPR class but there are so many different classes listed on the American Heart Association website that I'm not sure which one it is specifically. Has anyone signed up and can lead me in the right direction? Thanks!
Hi,
The class you need is BLS for health care providers. I paid $95 and it is good for two years.
Hope that helps
Hi everyone! Congrats to you all on your acceptance to Concordia! Welcome Cohort 4, class of 2012!! We've all been in your shoes before; anxious to get as much info as possible, and get everything started...a quick word of advice from me (Cohort 3): WHATEVER YOUR PLANS ARE FOR THE SUMMER---DO IT!! Wanna travel? Do it now! Wanna chill out and do nothing--do it now! Wanna bar hop---get it all out of your system NOW! Once the end of August hits my fellow future RNs, this program starts QUICKLY!
Oops! Forgot to answer what I came to tell you: if there are any of you that are in the city and are looking for BCLS class, Mount Sinai Hospital has one coming up on July 20th for only $70 for non-employees! Here is the info:
Mount Sinai, Nursing Ed. dept
35 E. 102nd Street, 2nd floor
NYC (212) 824-7240.
Good luck!
Hi! Thank you so much or all the details aout Conordia. I live in Westchester and getting my prerequisites at the WCC. I will be applying to Concordia. Hope I get in. Could you tell me if you have classes every day and what is the schedule. What time do they start and finish? I ask to figure out what ype of after school care I need for my 2 elementay school cildren :). Where are the clinicals done for med surg, mother/baby, adult care, elderly, psych? Do you know where the recent Concordia BSN grads are finding work? Is it hard to find jobs due to lack of experience? Any ideas and feed back would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Esthern! We have classes everyday, with clinicals once a week. Our class was split into two groups so your schedule will depend on which group you are placed in. Class schedules also change in the first semester. For the first half you will be at school more because of an extra lab. I would say on average we would start at 8:30 and be done by 4pm. During the second half of the semester we are done much earlier. However, there is one late class each week that is scheduled from 430-730. Concordia has a variety of hospitals that you might be assigned to including Montefiore, Westchester Medical Center, White Plains Hospital, Lawrence Hospital, etc. The most recent graduation was last week but according to the teachers, all of the students in past cohorts have been able to obtain jobs. I'm hoping that still holds true! Hoped this helped & good luck! :)
Has anyone received an acceptance letter for the Fall 2012 yet?
I had my interview last week with the Dean and can't wait to hear back. I would be over the moon to get in. Now, my excitement for the day is opening the mailbox hoping to find a letter from Concordia!
Sattanasio, have you applied for this upcoming Fall too?
Hi Colleen2515! The interview process is definitely nerve-racking, but I think it's great that Concordia looks at the whole person and not just the GPA like some other schools. It seems like a great program and I'm really hoping to get in too.
I'm hopeful that the odds are in our favor to be accepted - My thoughts are that the Dean only has so much time available in her busy schedule to interview candidates and I'm sure there is a huge pool of qualified applicants, so to have been extended the opportunity to interview at all means they must have seen something in our applications that they liked. The power of positive thinking! :)
Hopefully, today will be the day I hear back and can stop stalking the poor mailwoman! I'm not good at this waiting game! Fingers crossed and good luck to you too!! Let me know when you hear back!
