I am actually posting from there right now. What do you need to know? I have worked here for 28 years and have a very unique opinion on things so I need to know what department you plan on working in. Mike
thanks a lot for your reply!i still have no specific date to start as i am an orientee but im gonna be assigned at OB or MS.any general pieces of advice from someone as accomplished as you, i take with great honor. as i start my nursing career there , CHSB will be a very special place for me. im scared, anxious but im gonna give my best to others and to my patients..hope to see you around soon mike!
pinayhomegirl, just a shot, but are you from the PI? Our OB department can be very busy or very slow at times. it seems to me people don't stay there very long, I'm not quite sure why. The M/S wards are up and down in census and can get busy. The floors seem to keep the same people for long periods of time. Now, when you say you are going to be assigned here does that mean you are an agency nurse? Also, are you a new grad? When I asked about where you are from it was because we have a large amount of Filipinos working here and you will probably feel at home Good luck, Mike
yes i am from the PI.yes i am an agency nurse and i have a few months of experience back home before i went here and my agency say that CHSB offers "new grad" training program which i consider myself to be. i look up to nurses who have been long in the profession because it takes a lot of sacrifice (long hours away from family), patience and passion to be like you:). my relatives are here in chicago and i'll be moving there in CA by saturday to move to my own apartment whom im gonna share with another agency nurse (wh i don't know).i have few relatives here and they are near LA so im basically alone. i hope my preceptor will be warm and accommodating as you mike..thanks a lot!it means so much:rotfl:

Hello and welcome to So. Cali "pina". Am a nurse at CHSB's sister hospital St. B's also in san bernardino but did my clinicals at CHSB and to me it seemed like a warm friendly environment and the O.B. unit did have some very nice nurses whom went out of there way to help educate me during clinical rotation there. Leave a post when your settled in and if I can be of any help to you I'd be happy to.
