Hello and welcome to So. Cali "pina". Am a nurse at CHSB's sister hospital St. B's also in san bernardino but did my clinicals at CHSB and to me it seemed like a warm friendly environment and the O.B. unit did have some very nice nurses whom went out of there way to help educate me during clinical rotation there. Leave a post when your settled in and if I can be of any help to you I'd be happy to.

Appreciate your help as corporate office is trying to blow some smoke up our "you know whats". Thanks People!

Lpn's in Calif.
I dont think so.... My facility laid all of our LVN's off when ratios went into effect and there planning on doing away with CNA's for the most part too. All to pave the way for the "Mighty All Accountable" R.N.'s whom they are hiring from India and all other parts off the world just to satisfy the "ratios". Congrats CNA ( The RN UNION) you did your members well, its just everyone else involved in patient care that got screwed out of a job by the "ratio law". Really hows that gonna increase "patient safety" taking another set of eyes off your patients? Good luck is all I can say! You will no doubt have your hands full with 5 primary and no one else to cover you.

This week I have lost my motivation.
If you stick with it and buckle down you WILL be rewarded in the end. Real world nursing is not like what you may be envisioning it to be at this point. Ive been in the field 16yrs. and never once seen an order in grains, as for your clinical skilld they'll improve as your more comfortable in the clinical setting. Everyone makes a few mistakes at first and rest assured your fellow nurses will be there to both protect and watchover you every step of the way. Have you formed any study groups yet? If not do so asap It helps. See you in the field some day. chin up till then.

PROS and CONS LVN vocational school
I recently Graduated an LVN Program in CA. through an Adult Education School called an "apprentice program" in which you are required to be employed as a C.N.A. for min. 32 hours a week while attending. Classroom hours and clinical time totalled 20 hours per week and the program is 18 months in length. I believe the cost came to around $750.00 books, uniforms included. Fortunately I was already employed by a company with enough intuitiveness to promote from within its own ranks and therefore they covered 100% of the costs and worked with me on my work schedule so my investment was merely a matter of time and effort. Kind of nice to know theres a Major Healthcare Provider with the commitment to answering the nursing shortage in some form and is'nt afraid to spend a couple of dollars doing it. Hats of to Catholic Healthcare West.
