Has anyone here applied to the Summer 2010 admission at Columbus Tech? :)

I've learned that they have received 230 applications for admission this year....wow! Good luck to all of us that have applied.

@Katy, Thank you for the wonderful advice, the orientation was good, the seniors were very helpful, I think they were thoughtful to set us up with mentors.

@all I can't wait to meet everyone. We're family now :)

o, and I forgot to say my name is Earline(thanks grandma!) Niles but I go by my middle name Janel...it will be great to get to know everyone, like constance said we are family now!

Hey ladies, the class is posted on Angel...just an FYI if you haven't checked it yet. There are a couple of papers that have to be printed out, signed and brought with us to class on Tuesday. Can you tell I'm a little excited? :yeah:

quick question ladies. I Am applying to the ADN program for summer 2011. I know that the school is changing to semesters do you know how this will affect the program/how many semesters will it take to complete the program? How long is the program after you get accepted? I have more questions but I guess I will wait to see if any of you busy ladies are even around before posting more thanks :)

Hi. I don't know much about how the quarter-semester change will affect the upcoming class. Since we graduate in December, it doesn't really affect us too much except cramming a full quarter into the shortened summer quarter.

I would suggest contacting the advisor because I've heard a couple of things, but it's all just speculation at this point. I have a friend who is also applying next year, and the only thing she has found out at this point is that they are most likely going to be starting the next class in the Fall instead of Summer since the Summer quarter has been shortened. But this is second hand information, so don't hold me to it :) Good luck and I'll try to help if you have anymore questions.

SROBB thanks alot for replying. Ok since I have your ear I will ask you this. I know that you transferred all of hour prerequisites. I have a BS degree and most of my prerequisites were transferred in as well but on my columbus tech transcript does not have a course grade just shows that the class transferred. I am taking a&p1 and Sct 100 winter and a&p2, humanities, and psychology 2103 spring im going to try to clep humanities and psychology and then I will just have micro left. How long did you study for the nln? I need to take it before March 1st. What's the most effective way to study? How many hours is the program perquarter? Since you graduate in december I would deduce that the nursing portion of the program takes about 18 months? I wonder if that will change. I know you dont know just wondering.

I am a military wife and I get a small grant $4000 and two years to complete this program so hopefully I get in on the first try unless I will need a plan b. Any advice you have for me I would really appreciate :) thanks

I didn't study too much for the NLN. I only had about 10 days to study. I used the book published by the NLN, "RN Pre-Entrance Exam". It was very helpful. I just kept taking the practice tests over and over.

The program now is 6 quarters, we started in the summer and will graduate next December. It is a full time program, so expect to be in either class, lab or clinicals every day, then add study time, and you pretty much live and breathe nursing.

It looks like you will be trying to get the non-nursing requirements done and that's the best advice I can give you. It will make your life a little less stressful if you can just focus on the nursing courses. If you do decide to exempt out of PSY2103, I used the book for the course to study (they have it in the library that you can check out). Do not use the clep exam book. There were some students in our class that used the clep book to study for the test and it didn't help them at all and they didn't pass it. The exemption exam is NOT a clep test, it is a test from the course itself, looked to me like it may have been a final exam, so you really need to be studying from the book they use in the course.

I hope this answers your questions. If you have anything further you want to know, I'd be happy to help.

ETA: I also wanted to add that you want to make sure you study all portions of the NLN review book. My test had a lot of physics on it, but a friend said she hardly had any physics on her test, mostly biology. Just a little tip.

Thanks for all of your advice. Physics?? Man I didn't even take that in high school. Guess I should go ahead and pick up that study guide.

Hey everyone. Its a late congrats but congrats to all of yall you got into CTC nursing program in 2010. I was actually wondering how long most of yall spent at CTC those of which were not transfer students? Did any of yall have the co-reqs completed before starting the actual program ( English 1101, SPC 1101, BIO 2117, ETC.) ??

I would appreciate all the answers that were possible..
