Columbia University MDE 2017

Published

Hi everyone!

First of all, I would like to congratulate everyone who has been accepted into the next starting cohort for this program! :D

I am starting this super early because I have already begun to freak out lol.

Is anyone applying for the MDE MDE/DNP or MDE/PHD program for 2017?

This is my dream program !!

I am prepping for the GRE at this point which I am taking in August. It has been a long arduous road for me to say the least and I am ready to send my app off with a prayer. Any advice from current/previous students of this program or applicants welcome! And to my fellow applicants what other programs are you applying to? And most importantly good luck to everyone. The application opens August of 2016 :D

Does anyone know anything about deferment?

Does anyone know how long the DNP portion takes? I'm not clear if it's 2 or 3 years once we've gone through the MDE.

I contacted them about deferment, and thry said they did not allow it foe any reason. But that being said, it never hurts to ask and plead your case.

@arobie It's 3 years after you are done with the MDE.

Here I quoted directly from the university website:

"Masters Direct Entry/Doctor of Nursing Practice (MDE/DNP)

4 years (15 months MDE + 3 years DNP)"

My baby and childcare is the only drawback since I am a single mom. I fully expect to live off of loans while I get through the PNP DNP program. However, I am beyond ecstatic to be offered a place for the Summer😊😊😊

Has anyone heard updates regarding the waitlist?

I know the deadline for accepted students to accept is 3/15. Maybe the wait listed will hear more after this?

any advice for a hopeful 2017 applicant in psych? i.e. experiences, video essays, regular essays? Thank you for this thread!

congrats! do you have any insight for someone who is going to apply? i.e. experiences, essays?

Waitlist decisions are out!

Did they call, email or update our portal? If we have not heard anything as far as the waitlist, does that mean we are still on it? I'm still patiently waiting.

So a waitlist doesn't really work like that I don't think? they let in the people at the top of it and then will let in more as the first admitted waitlisters deny. I was just accepted off the waitlist, but was pretty set on Yale so I may give up my spot. Unsure right now
