Thought it'd be a good idea to start a thread for prospective applicants to Columbia's ETP program starting Summer 2011. I was going to apply last year but passed on it in favor of working for another year.
Applications are due November 15, 2010! Right around the corner ...
Anyone else preparing for this also?
i submitted my housing form... it said ..."Applications are not accepted until April 15th 2009.
Your application has been received by Columbia University Medical Center - Office of Housing Services."
okay...so is it accepted or not?!?! lol
LOL did you submit your enrollment stuff yet? and pay the $500?
Hello everyone! This is my first post to the forum. I was accepted tothe Women's Health track.
Quick calendar question: I know the first year is a calendar year from June-May, and it's supposed to be pretty intensive. After that, if we plan to go straight through to the MSN, does the second year start right away, or do we get the summer off?
Feels crazy to be thinking so far away, but I'm trying to get my life organized!
Also, I live in West Harlem, and I've been in NYC since 2002, so if anyone has any specific questions, I'm happy to help.

The MSN, if you go straight through, starts in May/June. So no time off. But I believe you still get a break at the end of the Summer like in the first year, and Thanksgiving (1week) Christmas (1/2 weeks)

Hey JByrdNYC!
What are your thought on Washington Heights and Inwood as places to live?
I have a lot of friends who live in Washington Heights and Inwood, and they all love it, mostly for the space/money value. But there are some parts of it that are a little sketchy. It can vary block to block up there, so it would be important to see the apartment (at night!) to make sure you're comfortable in the neighborhood first. There's not much that goes on socially (as far as I know), but if you're off the A train, you can get to Times Square in half an hour or so.

Do you know how long the break at the end of the summer is? Is there somewhere I can find a rough calendar of what the schedule looks like? (Specifically for the women's health track...some people seem to know exactly how long their specialties will take, and I don't think I've seen that info anywhere...)
Thanks for your help! Trying to figure out where some major life events might fit into this schedule, and getting overwhelmed already!!!

You get 3 weeks between Summer and Fall semesters.
