  1. ** I meant to say the pants ran small**
  2. Hey everybody, I went to the visiting day, here are some highlights that I thought were important: 1. Financial Aid, last year second degree student were awarded $12,500 in financial aid (stafford loans), this year they increased that amount to $25,000. For those of you who had filled out a FAFSA, the financial aid packages will be arriving on Monday. Also, since there is a timing difference in when we receive financial aid, they advised that we have all our financial situations straightened out for the first month of June. 2. Housing, is basically on a first come first serve basis with priority given to out of state students. Most of the people who will get housing will stay in "Bard Hall" - we got a tour of and the rooms look really runned down and dingy. 3. Equipment, the student ambassadors who are currently entering their specialty year told us that they didn't use any of the stuff in the equipment packages except for a penlight and the scope. 4. Uniforms, we got to try on, when I go shopping I usually get size s tops, but the tops were pretty big, so I am going to get an xs instead. The bottoms ran kind of big, so I will be getting the pants in a size small. The nice thing about the white pants are that they have extra pockets on the side, but they're kind of see through, so I'm going to get 2 sets of navy tops and bottom. That is basically it, everything else was more or less "fluff" Advice from the ETP director: don't get married, pregnant, or get off your anti-depressants! Hope this helps!
  3. thanks a lot cu1234!
  4. good question... also, what's the latest that ETP students get off from class/clinicals... i'm most likely going to be commuting as well
  5. LOL did you submit your enrollment stuff yet? and pay the $500?
  6. Yep, and all before our financial aid packages come in and what not... my response card for some of the other schools i've been accepted to aren't even due until april! haha... way to take our money columbia!
  7. uniform ordering form and supply order form are due by march 21st... uhhh is that nuts or nuts??? anyway, for those who didn't receive the e-mail yet april 15th :student health service pre-registration forms june 1st: cpr
  8. hey all, since you all seem way more knowledgeable than me with this whole DNP thing, I have a question for you guys... I recently decided to change career paths and have decided to pursue a second degree in nursing. I have applied to a few accelerated bsn programs and so far I've been accepted to binghamton and columbia's etp program which is basically a combined bsn+msn program. Columbia is going to cost me a fortune and the only reason why I'm considering columbia over binghamton is because I'll have the security of making the 2015 cutoff... having said that, do you guys think it's worth going to columbia with a sticker price of $90k+ or should I just stick with binghamton (approx $20k), do the program, work a couple of years, and apply to an msn...? any advice/opinions would be greattttlyyy appreciated!
  9. everyone seems to be some what concerned about housing and stuff.. sooo, while i was an undergrad, (i live in the city by the way) i got my real estate broker license for "fun" and one of the best no-fee rentals i came across was croman realty, or 9300realty.com - they definitely had some of the nicest rentals with no fees, and most/all rentals had hardwood flooring with exposed brickwalls (really pretty) and newly funished bathrooms etc etc... HOWEVER this landlord may be somewhat difficult at times to work with...
  10. well, all elevators in the nyc subway system suck and smell horrible, nothing you can really do about it... i always take the stairs ... on another note, is anybody considering ETP program just because of the whole 2015 DNP thing even though they got accepted to a substantially cheaper program?
  11. yea, i'm contemplating getting an apartment close to the school even though i live in the city... because after a full day of classes/clinicals, i don't know if i'm going to want to trek it all the way home
  12. hmm, i was born and raised in nyc and i can tell you that when i was in public school, the system was really good, it actually comes down to what school district you want to put your kids into, or what school you're zoned for...
  13. I think you have to be accepted into Hunter College first, and once you're accepted then you'll get info on how to apply to the nursing program...
  14. north as in the metro north station? that's actually a good idea, my only issue with metro north/lirr etc is that when it snows or rains heavily there's always problems with the rails... my commute on train from queens to columbia is around 1 hours and 20 minutes, by car if there's no traffic around 30 minutes
  15. car commute will definitely be tough, i live in queens, and when i went to one of the open houses, it took me foreverrr to find parking!... i think if you live in the tristate area, it's best to take public transportation, so that you can study on the train? just a thought... highways are always jam packed with traffic too
