Columbia University ETP Program 2013

U.S.A. New York

The thread here for the Columbia University ETP program for entry in 2012 is pretty long (45 pages right now!), so I was hoping to elicit some of the same responses for those who are applying in 2013. Let's get to know each other!

Why are you applying to Columbia? What have you heard about the program- good, bad or ugly? Are you nervous, excited, ambivalent?

Looking forward to getting to know some of you!

hey itnn123, i'm in the same boat as you. i also received an acceptance decision from nyu. i'm at a loss of what to do. columbia is my top choice but nyu is my second. if i forfeit nyu and don't get into columbia, i'll be crushed. and nyu doesn't let you defer admission!! i'm tempted to email Jose but i think that would work against me, seeing EVERYONE gets their admission decision in Feb. it's only fair. i wish i had the oversight to plan this better!!

Yeah guys, I think it goes with the saying, "A bird in hand is worth two in the bush." I'd take the acceptance especially if it is your second school. Just do it man, it will eliminate all the worry you have for your life and you can just focus on other things immediately.

Hi Morgan, do you have Jose's email address? I submitted my application but still have no confirmation that it's in review.

Does anyone know when we'll hear from Columbia? Is it February-March like a lot of other schools?

PNP do you still need the address? I'll PM it to you.

I think we hear in FEB

Ok, just found this thread...it's not in the listing with all the other MSN programs. Anyway, just chiming in! I applied for the FNP program and got the word from Jose that my app is good to go. Now the wait is on!

dedicatedone and CU2012, when exactly was Visitor's day for your class?

Hey samdaman, Visitor's Day was March 2nd of this year. I believe we were informed of our admission the 1st or 2nd week of February. I just remember there being a fast turn around to purchase flight tickets out to NYC as I live out of state.

Wow they didn't give much time. Did you file a fafsa for all the schools you applied to on jan 1st for financial aid?

Visitors Day is prior to when your confirmation of acceptance is needed by the admissions office. I think confirmation was needed by the end of March...? Don't quote me on that though. There was no way that I would accept the schools offer if I didn't go to Visitors Day to at least look at the school. Now that I am here, it is much different than I expected but at the end of the day, I am proud to say I will be a Columbia Nurse. I would definitely speak with multiple students to get their perspective and insight about the program.

Regarding FinAid, I did file FAFSA for every single school I applied to just in case. If you're unsure about what the school code is, call the admissions office to get it or it might be listed on the website.

Confused as to why they sent an email asking for Fall transcripts already - wowza! My grades wont be in until mid January!

I think they just want you to submit another transcript when your grades are ready. I think you'll be fine to submit in mid/early Jan.
