Columbia School of Nursing MDE 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Hi AN fellows!

I know it is super early to start such a thread but I was hopping to connect with potential applicants/classmates for Columbia SON MDE 2018 program!

If you are applying to Columbia SON for summer 2018, let's share our experiences, ideas, thoughts and such!

Looking forward to hearing from some of you!

Last year, decisions came out in the morning. I remember waking up on the west coast, and my decision had already been posted.

Ahhh! Good to know! Thank you!

That's crazy @turok46368 if i'm reading this correctly, why does it have a pass rate of 77%.

I dont think 77% is accurate for the MDE/DNP program, because that is the BS stat. We would be getting an MS? I think..

Also, are we sure we get financial aid info the day of? If so, they are really awesome

It's also weird cause last year we also didn't have to do the financial application so maybe it will be next week instead of this week since someone said that the financial application will come with our decision letter if we get accepted. The financial application was new to me they didn't have it last year

That's interesting! How were students selected for scholarships then? Was it just based on your application?

I found the same statistic. It does seem low, however there could be extenuating factors we are unaware of for the 2016 cohort. The former years aren't incredible, but a bit more promising.

I always thought it was odd that the NCLEX percentage was low. Columbia's passing rate is the lowest of all the schools I looked at, private and public...

I was on the East Coast and I think it came around afternoon time! Like 1pm or 2pm!

I'm not sure but my friend who did get accepted said that each student gets a scholarship I think around the same amount. But she was saying how it doesn't cover a lot, you still have to pay a lot of money for the program. :( I don't know how I'm going to be able to afford it.

Does anyone know how much the total program costs?

Does anyone know how much the total program costs?

I believe it is like 106,000 or something like that for the MDE.. idk about the DNP being that I didn't apply for that one. I know in a previous post someone stated that Columbia is trying to decrease the cost of tuition... I'm not sure if that happened already or if they are just giving out more aid...

Does anyone know how much the total program costs?

Loans. Loans. Loans. And hope you can't get a job that A) will make you the money back or B) helps you decrease your loan. People make it work.

Columbia is very comparable to the other private schools I was looking at. Compared to a state school though, it's going to be more expensive.
