Columbia ETP 2016

Published

Hello!

I know this is a bit early, but I'm planning to apply to the apply to the Columbia Entry to Practice Program (among a few others) this fall. I've seen similar forums for past application periods, and thought it might be nice to get one started so we can start to bounce ideas and questions off each other.

Has anyone been to an open house? Any information worth sharing?

I got wait listed! However I'm still hopeful and praying! :)

Hello everyone! I was accepted to the MDE program. (I was NOT expecting that email today!) I'm really excited to learn more about the program and I'm planning on attending Visiting Day--can't wait to meet you all!

@blessed_b I am too! I am praying too. If God wants us there, he will get us there :) All at His will.

Hey tourist1! I live near the school of nursing and am happy to answer any questions about neighborhoods/ living in manhattan! just let me know:)

Congratulations to everyone!

Turns out I can't reply yet =\ def interested in renting out if you're still offering! Are there any places nearby that do have parking? I do still want a car in case I want to drive home

For those of you set on Columbia, can you talk about why it's your #1? I am having a tough time deciding between here and a few other places. Any comments from current students would be much appreciated:)

Keeping my prayers for us wait listed peeps! :)

Do you guys know if we hear back how much fin aid we get before the March 14th commitment date?

Hi Everyone!

I wanted to get an idea of what everyone's background is for whomever wants to share it. :) I'm trying to get more insight on things before I reapply for next year .. It appears that most people applied for MDE/DNP etc type of program rather then just the MDE as I did. I have a ba in psych and a degree in child and family studies as well as a masters in social work. I have experience work wise in direct care, weekend supervisor of a Grouphome, mental health counselor , substance abuse counselor , case worker , amap certified for administering medications and more... I know they say they choose people with all different backgrounds so I'm curious to know what different types of backgrounds everyone here has.

Anyone care to share?

Hi FutrRN85!

I was accepted to the MDE/DNP for adult gero. I'm actually still working on my bachelors right now and will finish it in May. I'm majoring in health science and I work part time as an EMT. Other than that I do not have much background in healthcare -- most of my work outside from school has actually been in with non profits and fundraising.

You're background sounds really amazing! I think I just squeaked by based on my essay - i tried to make sure that i put in answers to ever question within their tiny page limit

Hi!! Thanks for the response!

Oh wow okay that's awesome !! Haha and thanks for the compliment.

You seem to have a good background as well! With health science and being an EMT. Im

excited to hear about everyone's experiences once the program starts.

I would love to hear about people's reasons for making Columbia their #1 too!

Congrats to everyone! Does anyone still have outstanding prereqs to take? I am looking for 8 week online nutrition!
