Columbia ETP 2016

Published

Hello!

I know this is a bit early, but I'm planning to apply to the apply to the Columbia Entry to Practice Program (among a few others) this fall. I've seen similar forums for past application periods, and thought it might be nice to get one started so we can start to bounce ideas and questions off each other.

Has anyone been to an open house? Any information worth sharing?

Is there anyone who only applied to the MDE program who currently holds a masters or another degree in a different area ? It seems that most people applied to a dual program rather then just the MDE, so I'm just trying to get an idea of the acceptance rates for the future.

Thanks!!

Got into MDE, but not DNP. So relieved I have a for-sure option now :D I'm not super clear on how that works, but hopefully I can attend an info session! Anyone know what happens after the MDE only? What your degree is exactly? I don't think you're an NP yet.

EMARA9

here you go :

Graduates of the MDE program are conferred a Master's of Science in Nursing and are eligible to sit for the NCLEX, the registered nurse licensure examination.

so no you won't be a NP but you can futhre your education to become one. Hope this helps !

I'm waitlisted! I hope spots open D: I wonder how many people are waitlisted, since I know not many people wanted the MDE only option without the DNP.

For those asking about the MDE only, they grant you a Masters in Nursing with a care coordination focus (Like Clinical Nurse Leadership) after you graduate. You can get your RN with that. That's all it is. There is no gateway to the DNP, you have to apply for that.

Fingers crossed for us waitlist peeps :)

-If anyone knows stats of how many people actually get in from the waitlist, feel free to share :)

I'm in for MDE/DNP Pediatrics! Congrats to everyone who got in-and for those that didn't-please don't worry-it took me 14 years to get here-you will find your way....

Accepted for MDE (program I applied for). Would love to get some info about cheaper/safe places to live around the school! Coming from the DMV area.

Hi,

I have a masters degree in education and got accepted into the MDE/DNP track.

Hey tourist1! I live near the school of nursing and am happy to answer any questions about neighborhoods/ living in manhattan! just let me know:)

Congratulations to everyone!

Thanks so much! I was hoping to private message you but looks like I can't since I just created my account and don't have the quality # of posts yet. Any chance you can private message me? If not, I'll look for you at the Visit Day!

is there a facebook group for accepted students?

Hi all! I got in FNP for the MDE/DNP! I am so relieved. I cried for about five minutes straight. And then some more.

I wanted to share some of my stats for future students (this helped me a lot during my application journey) -- I had a 3.045 with a bio major from a pretty competitive university. A 301 (verbal and QR) GRE score. I had several leadership positions in student orgs, one internship, worked in health promotion at health clinic, volunteered abroad, and had letters of rec from my supervisor, a teaching assistant and a professor. Hope this helps future applicants!

Good luck everyone for other schools!

I got my masters in physiology and only found out about the MDE/DNP after the Oct deadline (so ended up only applying to the MDE). Hoping to apply for the DNP once they release how to apply.

congrats to those who got in, and for those who didn't - don't give up hope!
