Columbia ETP 2016

Published

Hello!

I know this is a bit early, but I'm planning to apply to the apply to the Columbia Entry to Practice Program (among a few others) this fall. I've seen similar forums for past application periods, and thought it might be nice to get one started so we can start to bounce ideas and questions off each other.

Has anyone been to an open house? Any information worth sharing?

I applied for the MDE-only portion as well. I got the same email about the FAQ, so maybe check your email filters?

Thank you guys for the support! I guess I will need to call on Monday because I imagine something got messed up in switching my email address. I'll post if they give me any updated info on when to expect a decision...

Yeah, check as soon as possible because if they do not have your email address correctly there might be an issue when sending out your decision email.

Is anyone else also applying to NYU's ABSN? If so, how did you deal with the FAFSA form since one is a Master's program and the other is a second bachelor's degree? Thanks for any help in advance!

Columbia mentioned that you can send them a FASFA as a grad student and edit the fasfa after to 5th year/continuing student for Accelerated BSN programs. Just be sure to delete Columbia as a recipient of your FASFA, as well as any programs that grant MSN and not BSN's- they will still receive a copy of your FASFA just not the edited for BSN programs one.

rj_gunner thanks so much for all the FAFSA info- I would have never done it by the deadline if you hadn't posted! Just finished it, feel so relieved now :)

Hi all, I'm still having trouble with the fafsa

I don't really want to put my parents info because that would require me to sit down and go over it with them but I currently live in a different state. Does anyone know if we are required to include their income if we are under 24 since we are applying for nursing. I forget if i asked here already so I'm sorry if this is redundant

fafsa always flusters me.

I think if you're a grad student, you don't have to include their info. I read that on the Columbia financial aid email, but I could be wrong. This stuff goes right over my head too. Is 24 the age cut-off? As I said I just finished mine and I didn't put their info in there, and I'm 24 so I'm hoping that's okay.

You don't need your parents info! You're an independent student- perfectly fine

As a masters student, you never have to put parent info (as others have said). However, if you are also doing a FASFA for BSN programs, and are under 24, you may need to put parent info. Not totally clear on this point.

Thanks so much everyone!

its so confusing! it says you dont need it on the actual fafsa except if you are applying to law school or schools in health professions such as medical or nursing so i am not sure what to put :(
