Columbia ETP 2010

Published

Hey Y'all!

I'm getting ready to apply to the Columbia's ETP for 2010. I was just wondering who else was applying and what you were doing to make your application stronger! Also where else are you applying and what do your stats look like (GPA, GRE, experience, etc) ? I'm getting nervous as I start the whole application process and just thought I'd turn to the forums for some support and guidance!

I'm looking forward to sharing the journey with y'all! Hope to hear from you soon! :)

Hey Everyone,

I just thought it would be a good idea to create a facebook group for our class!

http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=332586457408

Would be a good way to meet/introduce ourselves and find roommates if people are interested. I made it private so people could share information, but if you would like to be an admin, just let me know!

Now hold up a minute????? How am I supposed to be able to study when I am gonna be surrounded by so many extremely eligible single ladies? ;)

Specializes in Future CNM.

Mindlor, I know you probably mean it as a compliment to all the "single ladies" (I now have the Beyonce song in my head) but comments like that can come across as off putting and uncomfortable.

Actually I was only teasing and trying to generate some levity :) Hakuna Matata ;)

Hi DizzyMissLizzy9, thanks for sharing as well. I am not originally from NYC but might as well be, been here since I was 8. Have moved around a bit but for some reason always come back to NYC. Impressive about your competitive swimming, I think we might be able to join the gym on campus ...I have heard that it has a pool!

Congrats allison16!

hopeful349, I requested to join the facebook group :)

no worries, mindlor, i thought your comment was amusing :p

and beth, YES! i will definitely need a workout buddy! i'm not used to the cold weather (aka anything in the 50s and lower. yikes) and i sure will miss outdoor pools. i was thinking runs at central park should be nice though! :)

will be joining the fb group as soon as i get home from work! thanks for creating that hopeful349!

Hey Everyone!

Just found this thread (and read all the way from page 1!). I've been admitted to Columbia for the Women's Health Track. I just booked my flight and hotel for the March 5th preview day. I'm very exciting to meet some of you and to decide if Columbia will be the place for me.

I'm from Los Angeles... went to school at UC Santa Barbara and have done the move to the East Coast once before to get my MPH at Hopkins. Loved the experience... but I moved straight back to LA for the weather (and to be close to family and friends). I've worked in Health Education and right now am at UCLA's Cancer Center. I'm excited to get back in the classroom.

If any So Cal people would like to get together, it would be great to meet some people (maybe potential roommates?) and I can share my experience from the admitted students day.

Good luck to everyone as you make decisions!

ah another person from LA! congrats and hello cstark. i am meeting with another girl from LA who was also accepted to columbia on mar 13th. we will probably be meeting near the downey area. where are you coming from? i'd be happy for you to join us!

Hi DizzyMissLizzy9,

That sounds awesome! I will be in town on March 13th and can meet up anywhere in the LA area... I live close to UCLA (Sherman Oaks... where the wonderful 101 and 405 meet). I'll put it on my calendar and lets discuss details soon :)

@ SarahMG - Great idea to attend an applicants session, since you can't make the 3/5 accepted students day. I'm in the same boat and I'm going to try to get to the March applicants day. Did you think the session was helpful or too much geared to the application process?

@Allison16 - welcome to the thread! There are a few of us WHNP-ers on here now. So exciting! Glad to see another person with SF roots coming to NYC. I moved to Manhattan from SF two years ago. Its a big change but NYC is wonderful.

@mindlor - yeah, didn't love the virtual pick-up lines either... but I see you've been on the boards longer than me, so maybe I need to adjust to more virtual humor? :jester:

Hi all,

I've been lurking around here too, but I thought it was time to say hello! I'm also in for the FNP track and planning to come out for the accepted students day. I'm also from LA area (Long Beach), and I went to undergrad at UC Berkeley. I've been working in marketing for the past 4 years, and am so excited to be heading out of that industry! I'm looking forward to meeting some of you at the accepted students day!

Right, well my attempt at humor obviously took off like a lead balloon. I was only teasing/kidding as evidenced by the little winky thingy after my comment :) Anyway, I now realize that will be attending an Ivy league school and in my future endeavors I shall do my utmost to display the proper amount of hautiness and stoicism LOL. Again, ONLY teasing!! Its gonna be a rough ride everyone but there is nothing that says we cant enjoy the ride eh? Relax ;0
