Hey Y'all!
I'm getting ready to apply to the Columbia's ETP for 2010. I was just wondering who else was applying and what you were doing to make your application stronger! Also where else are you applying and what do your stats look like (GPA, GRE, experience, etc) ? I'm getting nervous as I start the whole application process and just thought I'd turn to the forums for some support and guidance!
I'm looking forward to sharing the journey with y'all! Hope to hear from you soon! :)

Hi CrstnBeach,
The Info Session was definitely geared more toward potential applicants, but I was still glad that I went. The ETP Program Director gave an introduction to the program, which was great, and I was able to ask her a number of questions afterward. The Admissions person gave me a tour of the campus (which was very helpful because I hadn't seen it yet!) and answered some of my more specific questions re housing and financial aid. And I met a current ETP student -- who loves the program -- and was more than happy to talk to me. I'm still making my decision (between Columbia and Yale), so my Columbia visit was very useful.
I am another SF (although now on the East Coast)/WHNP person! Nice to know that there are a number of us!
For anyone with public transportation concerns: I was also able to navigate from Columbia to the MetroNorth Train Station via subway and bus without any problems. Hooray!
I still can't believe that columbia gets hundreds of people to sign up for a program that will leave them with a $1400 a month student loan payment when you could get the same education and career opportunities for 1/3 the price at other schools. I have been warning people on this board for 24 months now and its like an avalanche of lemmings into the sea!
For those of you who dont know me, I graduated from ETP in 04 and I wish I never heard of ETP. There are thousands of MDs out there who graduated from Med School who have less debt than the average etp grad. ETP + NP at Columbia is one of the most expensive degrees in the country.
Please don't end up like me, struggling to make ends meet. At least get your BSN somewhere cheap!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey everybody! I'm new to the group too! I got in to the FNP program. I recently moved to the east coast with my hubby, originally from Northern California, graduated from the University of Colorado with a degree in Spanish Language. I'm planning on attending the visiting day on March 5th and am looking forward to meeting everybody!
I just tried to join the Face Book group, but am waiting for my request to be granted. See you all next week!

Yes, columbiaetp04, the cost of Columbia's ETP program is a big concern to me. What about this $33K scholarship that I've heard the admissions coordinators talk about? They said that almost everyone gets this scholarship due to financial need... and I think in most cases, everyone is in financial need when it comes to Columbia!
DizzyMissLizzy09, I would love to meet up with you guys on the 13th! I would love to hear your thoughts on all these decisions, because I've noticed that I think we have some similar decisions to make! Either way, it would be great to meet the several local people that are likely heading East! Please keep me posted on your plans and thank you so much for the invite!

Hey guys,
Just FYI for those that are wondering about your financial aid package. I called the financial aid office to make sure that they had my info etc. They informed me that they are transitioning to a new system that won't be up 'til next week so @ the moment they do not even have access to our info. Also, we probably won't have our packages before visiting day. According to the lady I spoke with, we will probably get our packages in mid-March.
Ugh! Another waiting game.
